We have lived along the Bear River for thirty years and it is a secluded spot withing minutes to the town of Auburn. There is no public access and this river spot has only been enjoyed by a small handful. This property belongs to my father and five years ago I moved home to help him after his second, triple heart bypass surgery. I decided on a major career change and started farming what was once the front lawn. The property is somewhat divided up into three parts: the front of the land is the intensively cultivated land, where we live and neighbors drive by. The middle of the property contains our fruit trees, pereinnals and animals such as pigs, goats, chickens, and ducks. The back of the property is left all natural for nature to take it's course. This is where the camping is - removed from the hustle and bustle and a place for pure relaxation.

Secluded River Spot on a Farm
Pete is a lovely host! The property is beautiful and it gets a lot of sun in the morning. The price is also fair compared to other campsites. There's a flat area for your tent and don't even get me started on the goats -- they are SO sweet and playful! Wonderful host, easy to find, feels secluded, and a great area for swimming.

Secluded River Spot on a Farm
Staying at Son of Something Farms was such a treat. Peter was warm and welcoming giving us a tour upon arrival. The campsite is down closer to the river, where two goats are there to greet you, they are the friendliest little fur balls. There is a cart to help shuttle your gear down and a picnic bench to cook on. The site is just incredible. The river was a much needed cool break from the summer heat. Can't wait to go back for more swimming!
