Namakota provided a pleasant camping experience. The site is basically his backyard, a backyard with lots of trees and some interesting things. It's close to the road but quiet and Namakota will give you a local's tips on where to go—such as Castle Lake and a hike to Heart Lake—that turned out to be great for me. And he has a friendly dog too!

Namakota was very friendly and welcoming to me and my friend! However the campsite was not very private, and the property was not well kept. The bathroom in particular was not clean whatsoever, and we did not feel that covid guidelines were being followed. If these issues were addressed it would be a nice place to stay though! The area is beautiful.

A peaceful stay and kind host. Namakota had great local tips and alerted us to the wildfire situation that day. The location was ideal for us to get out to lakes and hiking.

Nice campsite! Camping here was like camping in your favorite uncle's backyard. Homey not commercial, surrounded by tall pines, somewhat eclectic decor what with all the fairy figurines. A friendly resident basset hound was welcoming but not overbearing. The host was friendly and helpful, offering firewood in exchange for an early departure and a discount on our next stay. An indoor bathroom was available. Mount Shasta was visible through the trees. The only glitch was an inaccurate WiFi password which we never did quite figure out.

Our host was welcoming and friendly. There was a fully functioning bathroom available, sensor lights so we wouldn’t trip at night, and if we had forgotten any necessary camping tools, Namakota would have had us covered. We would definitely return

Seemed like a great location. We did not stay there. It was close to the road and cluttered. Would be great for bike touring potentially since its near the road, but was not what we were looking for and did not stay the night.

Special thanks to Namakota. His directions were spot on. He was very timely in his communications with me and was very helpful with my questions. The space and amenities were as described. It was very peaceful and quiet. I tent camped and it was perfect for me.

Fairy Garden is very convenient to I-5 and a good place to stop on your way somewhere else. Our host was friendly and very responsive to our communications. He has friendly little dog, a Basset Hound who greated us in the morning. I found I needed to be careful where I walked as the dog uses the yard where we were staying to poop. Small piles were everywhere. The site is right on the road and you are camping in the host's yard. He quite kindly let's you use his bathroom, so one has use of a flushing toilet and hot water to wash your hands. The price is reasonable for what is offered.

I spent two nights here in April, and Namakota was an amazing host! He was friendly, considerate, and had great information on activities to do in the surrounding area. 10/10 would recommend.

Franklin was a very nice host.
We were looking for a last minute place to stay traveling with our tent trailer on our way home.
All the campsites we tried were closed for winter and we didn't feel like an RV park so we tried hipcamp. Ended up here and Franklin was very nice. We set up camp in his yard.

While I only stayed one quick night, I was greeted warmly upon arrival. He showed me where everything was, where to set up and let me know if there was anything I needed to let him know. He gave me tips on the best routes to take for the rest of my trip, what to see on the way and even restaurants that I might like to stay at. A very pleasant experience!

It was great meeting Franklin (Namakota) and his dog Otto. They made me feel welcome. The site is right off a paved road, so it's very easily accessible from Shasta town, and the road doesn't get much traffic so it's still quiet.
It's my first time to Shasta, and Franklin brought me up to speed with all the sites to go visit over coffee in the morning, great host.
I followed his recommendation and hang out for a while at Sisson Meadow park with gorgeous views of the mountain. There are some nice polished stones to sit on the path that goes from the park in the direction of the school.

Namakota was the perfect host! His location was easy to find, he offers everything you need, and even gave us some apple pie! Would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Thank you, Namakota, for a safe, warm, place to stay! :)

This was a nice place to camp. The only suggestion I have is to arrive before dark, especially if you don't have your own form of light source. Namakota does have some lights on motion sensors, but to find the optimum place to set up, it's better to do so while there is still daylight.

This camp was perfect stopover on our way to Northwest String Summit. Right off the freeway, nice camp with place to eat, bathroom, etc. I think better for tent camping, but Franklin accomodated our van just fine. Keep in mind the bathroom is part of the residence. The host is super nice, and dog Otto is friendly and cute.

This is a great camping option that is close to drive to town and has a bathroom, shower, etc. There are a few camping sites so it will not be crowded with people. The host likes to keep the quiet, peaceful atmosphere so it was perfect for me.

Namakota / Franklin (host) was extremely welcoming and kind. He was also a great and responsive communicator on text pre-arrival and during our stay. Loved his basset hound Otto!
My girlfriend and I had plenty of space to camp in a nicely-sized backyard. We also had easy access 24/7 to a small full-sized bathroom just off the backyard whenever we wanted. His place was VERY convenient (though not walking distance) to Mt. Shasta City and lots of nearby hikes & fun outdoorsy stuff.
Only complaint is proximity of camp site to a small side road. Traffic noise wasn’t that disruptive (nor were the other campers) but something to know if you’re looking for a more more secluded wildnesness experience.

Franklin and Otto were great hosts! Super friendly vibe and a beautiful spot. Franklin suggested some really great hiking spots and was very helpful throughout my stay! I will gladly come up and stay again next time I am in the area! Thank you!

The Fairy Garden Camp Out is a great place to crash in passing. Close to Lake Sisikyou (word of advice, bring a bike or hike during the day, not at dusk in flip flops like I did) and within a mile of Mount Shasta. Great, easy going host.

We enjoyed our stay at Franklin’s place — his dog is cute and friendly and he is close to downtown Mt. Shasta City as well as the mountains and lake. Overall good Campsite!

Franklin's property was great for a quick trip through Shasta and we enjoyed our stay. Franklin (and his beloved dog, Otto) was a great host - providing a tent, extra sleeping bag, fire wood, etc - for our night out. Thanks Franklin!

Host is very accommodating. We arrived late at night and there was plenty of light for us to set up our tent. There was some confusion about whether there was a rent or not provided by the host. We could not find one but it did not bother us sonce we had our own. Bathroom and laundry room we're easily accessible and had nice touches like a towel and a few toiletries. God location and we would return next time in the Shasta area.
