THE SITE

Ride or hike on up after a trek to Henry Cowell State Park down the street, or that Cool Roaring Camp Railway, or a day at the beach! Close to fun stuff to do, then be "one with nature".

There are 3 little camping shelters (btw, our shelters are basically tiny rooms -nice if you like to sleep up off the ground). If you are into "rustic", "primitive" , backpacking, trekking, etc. then having these shelters can be a nice change of pace. .So, you can choose one or all 3 mini nature-shed shelters to sleep in or meditate in, do yoga, read a book, relax, hang out with fido etc. etc....or if you prefer, just pitch your tent under the grandeur of the Giant Redwood forest above you.

It's a sliver of land (small, mini, wee, tiny in size as walk-in primitives sometimes go) but you know, as they say "good things come in small packages" - and it is our Grateful place! We are grateful to have a small private space of land close to fun stuff everywhere and where we can rest up between our treks, connecting with nature on a Direct level - meaning, while our camp is not like Robinson Crusoe, it is as Primitive and we like it that way - it fits our back to the core of nature in its simplicity.

Under the Giant Redwoods, 6 miles to the beaches, we have a walk-in Primitive site for you if you are up for the adventure! It's a walk-in camp with parking space for bicycles or a Vespa - no room for a car - If traveling by car, bring your bikes or vespa on your car, or rent them - and park your car down along Highway 9 or in Felton and bike on up! BTW bikes can also be rented in Santa Cruz - tons of great places to ride around in Santa Cruz County!

Camp sits adjacent a main redwood community paved private road so the positive is it is ez to find and get to. Even though the campsite sits to the right of the road, and while it will not be so quiet you can hear a pin drop 24x7, depending on the time of day, any road noise is way less than if you camped in a KOA or public campground - in our campsite you'll avoid loud partiers, noisy campers and/or tourists who can get out of hand. By the way, we do have other noises - those of nature of course - in our camp you will most likely see and/or hear blue jays, maybe crows, mockingbird or too (cool) and maybe Bigfoot (just kidding!). However, if you are into Bigfoot, down highway 9 is the Bigfoot Museum you can pop into (we think it still is open). You will have the whole campground to yourself to - private, one campsite camp is pretty cool - thank you Hipcamp for making these things happen!!

VIBE

Which brings up the VIBE of this campground - it is called Simply Grateful for many reasons, one of which is this is NOT a party campground. By renting our campsite you agree to be zen-like in the sense that you show respect, compassion etc. for the site, the animals, the plants (of course!) and the neighbors. BTW although you are in a Redwood forest setting, you are also in a Community Forest Neighborhood and so please be respectful of your neighbors. By renting our campsite you agree to be zen-like in the sense that you show respect, compassion etc. for the site, the animals, the plants (of course!) and the neighbors. - this is a ZEN camp, "zen" in the broad sense, of peaceful, serene, quiet, meditative, mindful etc...When not abiding by these Grateful Camp guidelines, the neighbors might get grumpy and let you know that - and that would spoil eceryone's fun. So, if your are the party animal type our camp is not for you - we have the Mindful, Zen-like, Compassion & Caring for others Neighborhood Watch Committee and the No Noise after 9 PM ordinance.

CAMPSITE HISTORY - YOUR CAMPING HERE SUPPORTS NATURE EDUCATION!!!

SO, in a nutshell, this is our Nature Direct Association's (naturalist, educators, students) campsite that we wish to share with everyone into Primitive camping. Mindful Courteous people are most welcome and by renting our campsite, you all will be contributing to a very good cause by renting with us - a portion of all camp rentals goes directly to Project Nature Connect (PNC). PNC is a non-profit that we Love and support for it's Nature Education programs. Thank you for visiting us - we hope you come and enjoy the whole coast, redwood forests and nature's abundant natural wonderland!
