You'll avoid the Tahoe commute traffic and feel so far away from it all. Gold Creek Cabin (3,500 foot elevation) is 38 miles (61 km) downhill from Kirkwood Mountain Resort and just 16 miles (26 km) uphill from Sutter Creek, one of the most popular and well-preserved Gold Rush towns, offering a variety of nice restaurants, antique stores, and unique shops. In the summer, plan to quickly get away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area with an easy, 2-hour drive into the heart of the California Gold Country. Explore the historical attractions and visit Gold Rush towns like Sutter Creek and Volcano. Take a hike in to the ''potholes'' and relax by the water. Plan to go fishing, boating, biking, hiking, kayaking, and really enjoy the outdoors. Grill on the large wrap-around deck and relax in the Adirondack chairs, enjoying a cold beverage. Gold Creek Cabin

Gold Creek cabin was a perfect retreat for four couples who get together yearly. Very well maintained house and acreage. Cynthia and Don were responsive and helpful. Would go again in an instant. House had everything we needed.

Gold Creek Cabin

I can't endorse this place enough. It starts with Doug as a welcoming host. I've never been more thoroughly taken care of before a stay. Doug sent out a Dropbox folder with links to directions, places to explore, etc. He was generous & accommodating with us checking in early for out stay... The cabin itself is beautiful & very remotely situated at the end of a dead end road in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The cabin has a very rustic/log-cabin feel, with modern amenities. I'm almost hesitant to say much more, because I don't want this place to be booked the next time I want to go out to Gold Creek Cabin. ; ) - Wes
