Welcome to your own private oasis on the magical Mendocino Coast! We are entering into the most gorgeous weather on the coast ( September, October) and hope you are will be able to come take in this beautiful area.
Pitch your tent in your own private redwood grove, in the bliss of nature. This site is a huge area that is all your own, completely removed from our house and our other camp sites! Surrounded by redwoods and has a great line of site for the moon in the evening. We are in the sunbelt and the site can be covered in the sun during the afternoon. We provide a large fire area with an enclosed fire pit, wood provided. It is within walking distance from our heavenly outdoor shower (made in redwood slabs and powered by one of the best outdoor shower systems) and our compost toilet. We also provide a sink with hot water to wash dishes, hands etc. This slice of heaven provides two tables and chairs, a power strip, solar powered lights, water, and a propane one burner stove. Horseshoes and a tic toe board are available for some good ole fashion fun :)
The site is about a 1 minute walk from the house with a well lit pathway that takes you to a clearing on our 2 1/2 acre property among the trees. If you are a Verizon or US Cellular customer you will have service at our home and in areas of the campsite, but ideally you can check out and enjoy the beauty! Once we show you around upon arrival, we do our best to allow our guests to really relax. We leave you alone but are very available for anything needed.
Our home is located in the special community of Albion, about 15 minutes south of Mendocino. Albion is quaint and has a gas station and wonderful market open until 8pm. The market has organic high quality food and the best homemade Indian food I have ever had! Our property is up the ridge from the store, about a ten minute drive in the gorgeous sunbelt of the Mendocino coast. It is almost always sunny and provides a bit of warmth from the coastal chill.
The Albion River is absolutely stunning and the local church camp provides very inexpensive kayaking or canoeing for the whole family. There is also a beach in Albion that is known for always having treasure- including sea glass ;) The quaint town of Elk is approx 15 minutes South of Albion and is absolutely a must see in the area. The beach and cafe are fabulous. Mendocino (about a 15-20 minute drive) provides shopping, an amazing atmosphere, and a variety of beaches and incredible sites to see. No matter what you are into it, this area can provide what you are looking for! Great food, amazing art, gorgeous beaches, incredible hiking, abundant fishing, and whale watching almost year round! The Botanical Gardens & Jug Handle State Natural Reserve (a hidden gem with a trail to a waterfall) are a few of my favorite treasures in the area. We are available to provide any recommendations you may need for the area. I recently read an article describing Mendocino and I can't help but share:
"Winding three and a half hours north of San Francisco, the road to Mendocino may be as magical as the destination itself. Frequently no wider than a country lane, it corkscrews through mountain passes, parallels patches of farmland and vineyards, traverses a cathedral of redwoods, and chases the Navarro River to the sea.And what an arrival it is: tabletop headlands carved below by massive sea caves and topped above with barns, lighthouses, and cliffside inns. Amid the dramatic landscape nestles the downtown, with Victorian homes in Easter-egg colors and Main Street lined with a bookstore, museum, toy shop, chocolatier, B&Bs, and eateries. The wildflowers and scrub of Mendocino Headlands State Park blanket the edges of town, where gentle trails lead to secluded beaches and benches for pausing to take in the show of spouting whales and surf-riding sea lions.Once a logging and mill town, Mendocino has evolved into an arty enclave (with a median housing price of $700,000) that's home to 894 souls: bohemians and bakers, CEOs and sommeliers, four-generation families and farmers, innkeepers and iconoclasts. The residents will be the first to tell you it's the greatest place to live on Earth, steadfast in their belief that they have won the location lottery in life."
A little about us: We are a family of three that relocated to this magical area from the Bay Area and are truly excited to share our property with folks looking to get back into nature and explore the area we love so much! Our home was recently purchased so we are still in the process of creating the dream home so there are areas where you can see projects going on. That is no where near the campsite and there is a parking area provided.

The vibe at La Luna Magic Deluxe
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This spot at La Luna is literally perfect. Amanda and Chris have thought about all the details and have designed the ultimate camping experience. The property is wonderfully quiet, the site is private with a tremendous view of the stars, the outdoor shower is a true gift and the hosts are tremendously accommodating and a fantastic resource to the area. Camping at La Luna is exactly what camping should be: an opportunity to unplug and reconnect. We can't wait to return!
Chris and Amanda were great hosts with solid recommendations on local activitues. The spot is a spacious clearing about 50 or so meters away from their house - the beautiful redwood forest offers privacy and isolation from the main part of their property. With so many amenities and a spotless site, it was a luxurious, relaxing experience.
We had a beautiful campsite in a wooded grove. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into creating a peaceful environment. The fire pit is very carefully and safely maintained. The location is a nice balance for car camping - a few hundred feet from the owners’ house but with a secluded feel.
I stayed one night here last weekend during my travels up the PCH. Travelling solo by motorcycle, I was seeking out places that provided a more off-the-grid, anti-state park camping sensation without sacrificing a few essential creature comforts. La Luna was an excellent choice for me & has been the single best location stay during my entire journey thus far. Amanda was not on-site when I arrived. But her property assistant, Sam, greeted me right away & got me settled in. Ample firewood & water were provided and the setting was perfect. My verizon cell had partial service (texting) as well which was key. With the general store just a few miles down the road, the entire stay was painless & enjoyable. Definitely will revisit during my next pass-thru!
My boyfriend and I had a really lovely stay at La Luna Magic Deluxe. Chris & Amanda were easy to communicate with virtually, and Chris was very welcoming upon arrival. Despite not being able to use the fire pit as we had hoped, the substituted table and single burner camp stove were very helpful and appreciated. This site is a short walk from the wonderful amenities (outdoor heated shower! and dishwashing sink), while still far enough away to feel completely private. We had a magical time and wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
Amanda and chris have carved out a beautiful spot in the middle of a forest. Loved having access to a power strip. There were string of lights that illumine the tent area at night and many little touches that show how much they care about their visitors experience. Everything was rustic and clean. Hot outdoor shower is private and delicious on a cool morning. Sitting around our fire in the morning with a coffee and a book is heaven. This spot gives you the kind of privacy you look for when escaping the busy world.
Our group of 8 (4 tents) had a great experience. This is a wonderfully secluded site in the middle of redwoods. The site comes with a fire pit and firewood is provided. There is an awesome outdoor shower with hot water. The hosts are very responsive and accomodating.
