Relax and rejuvenate as you listen to the sounds of the Stanislaus River just steps from your camping location. Soak in the sun's rays on two private beach areas only available to our Riverside friends. Leave your car behind and walk to the quaint gold-mining town of Knights Ferry where you can enjoy a great meal overlooking the river at the River's Edge, try some delicious ice cream and treats in the Creamery or listen to some local music in the Saloon. Go rafting or kayaking with us, if your heart desires, or stroll through the longest covered bridge West of the Mississippi. Take a trip to Yosemite or Big Trees (just over an hour away) or just unwind along the river.
You will meet other hipcampers and our rafting friends under the trees and grass camping areas. Portable restrooms, a shower and communal bbq pits are available. We spend most of our day on the river (own River Journey Adventures rafting company) so our presence is hardly ever felt- although we love meeting new people and adding friends to our "river family." We hope you can find some refuge at our little riverside campground.

David Voortman was an excellent host. He came by to check on all the campers to see if they had arrived safely. The camp sites are very clean, and all sites face the river which is super nice. The tents are a bit close together when the campsites are all occupied, but because of the raging river, you don't hear anything else but the water at night. It is the perfect place to escape summer fog from San Francisco: 2 hour drive when you plan it right, set up your tent, hang out by the river, have an ice cream in Knights Ferry (walking distance), listen to a live band at the Saloon (good food), a glass of wine at Rivers Edge restaurant overlooking the river (didn't like the food there but setting is beautiful), or go to the 50ies roadhouse/diner. We did a beautiful evening walk to the covered bridge nearby. Next day, Dave set us up in a raft (the company is River Journey, run by very friendly people) and we spend 4 hours on the river, paddling and relaxing, beautiful scenery. At around 4 PM we drove back to the city (and the fog:)
This place was amazing!! It was right on the river and there was even a private beach you can go and lay out on. The river was beautiful and there was plenty of shade to relax in and enjoy! Everyone who works there had some of the BEST hospitality and I would love to come back and get to see them again and camp! If you're also up for a rafting ride I would highly suggest it! They had an amazing set up and the river was beautiful.
Definitely will be going back and definitely was worth it!
Our host David came to meet us when we got a little lost. But after that, we were good to go! Not as private as we thought, but still incredibly fun and relaxing. Literally steps from the river (where we spent most of our day watching rafters and kayakers drift on by). We will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful camp site right on the river. David was an awesome host who answered all questions right away. The cold showers weren't that cold, my only complaint was the picnic tables were really old and rickety, damn near broken down, but other than that I would highly recommend this place to any and all.
Beautiful camping spot. Easy to get to, but still fairly private. (If they're fully booked, it would be crowded) Rafting was also great fun and highly recommended. The river is really cold, but perfect for the hot summer days
