The Well House is an out building / private room, furnished with a long double bed, night stand and bench. Situated 50' from my ramshackle coastal bungalow, on 2 acres facing south from the north point of Sonoma coast's Ocean Cove CA, it is just 2.5hrs north of SF. Tall grass, giant eucalyptus trees and bishop pines filter oceanic and geological views, while a short walk (50yrds) to the 100ft cliffs opens up expansive pacific views and rugged rock formations.
While Ocean Cove is best known for abalone diving and fishing, it is also surrounded by Salt Point Park to the north and Still Water Cove Park to the south. These two parks span several miles of the rugged Sonoma Coast's beaches, cliffs, grass lands and Redwood forests. Known for their geologic anomalies, mycelia, rhododendrons, and pigmy forests, they are also seldom crowded and mostly wild.
Take advantage of the infinite possibilities for adventurous rock climbers and fishermen or find your cliff side perch and let your spirit soar with the osprey. Less than 1 mi to Salt Point State Park's southern entrance, a paradise for mushroom hunters and those who wish to wander in the wilderness or explore the coastline. 5 mi to the historic Fort Ross State Park (early Russian settlement). Walk to the Ocean Cove Bar & Grill where you can enjoy a friendly local atmosphere with great prices or drive 5 mi and treat yourself to fine dining, artisanal bar bites, booze and local wines at the Timber Cove Inn. Or just kick back and enjoy some time away from civilization.

The vibe at The Well House
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had a great time! The cabin is rustic, but has electricity and there is a nice fire pit and barbecue on the porch. Since the bathroom is at Ben's house, we felt a little bit like we were invading his private space but it's shared with other campers too so I guess it's totally fine. Ben is a musician and his house is amazing anyway. The best part is the view on the ocean all over his property. We went to see the sunset from the beautiful Ocean Cove which is literally a 5 minute walk away.
The Well House at Separate Sea Star Point is a quiet and cozy getaway. Upon arriving we met the land owner Ben and he showed us around the property. The private campground at Seastar Point on the cliffside is a short walk down the hill from the main house and Well House. (For larger groups it would be great to book both the campsite, and the Well House.) Ben was extremely accommodating and easy going. The Well house itself is perfect for a couple and has a great deck to gather around with fire pit and grill if needed. There is a beautiful view to the ocean through towering redwoods from the deck. The ocean can be heard from most of the property and there is even a cove to sit above and enjoy a drink. The Well House sits fairly close to the PCH and can be a little noisy when trucks roll through but luckily there is very little traffic in Ocean Cove. Ben also allows patrons to use his restroom, shower, and kitchen in the house. Short drives in either direction will take you to some breathtaking views and quiet beaches.
Ready for a true sense of NoCal coastal living? Then check out The Well House. Eucalyptus scents the air, scrub jays hop about, cool breezes, campfires and the views. oh the views! Unbelievable, jaw dropping views of the coast. Quiet, simple, comfy accommodations with beautiful, natural touches. Great hiking and adventures abound. Right around the corner from the super swanky Timber Cove (fun for a drink by the fire pit) and up the street from the down-to-earth Ocean Cove Bar & Grill (salmon fish & chips!). The Ocean Cove General Store has got you covered for firewood & snacks and the like. Benjamin & Tennessee were gracious, lovely hosts and their two cats are the cutest welcoming committee ever. Such a sweet spot, a true gem.
We had an amazing stay at The Well House. It was a perfect, quiet weekend getaway with beautiful ocean views and a relaxing deck equipped with a fire pit for nighttime stargazing and s'mores. I also fell in love with the two cats on the property. The most affectionate, loving, and curious cats I've ever met. Definitely looking to stay here again in the future!
The Well House was such a wonderful spot! The little cottage itself was perfect for two people and super cozy - my boyfriend said it was the best nights sleep he's had since he can remember). Everything we needed was there - grilling utensils, a sink, a grill, firewood, a fire pit, ect. The little two seater chair was a great addition as well.
We set up a hammock overlooking the ocean, ate wine and cheese above a cove while watching the sunset and relaxed under the stars - all on the property. We're already preparing to book this spot as a gift.
It was wonderful!
The Well House cabin was very comfy and well decorated. The property was easily located off of HW1 and had stunning sunset views. The cabin was located very close to Benjamin's house but that didn't bother me. Overall, it was a great experience!
I loved this place! Benjamin & Tennessee are lovely. The cabin is cozy and the bed is comfortable. The fire pit & outside sink make it easy. Had the best s'mores! The bluff overlooking the ocean is spectacular. I went on a few of the hiking trails in Salt Point that Benjamin recommended and wished I had more time. I'll be back!
