About The Cabin at the Old Homestead
Our rustic cabin is located on a large, private cattle ranch and captures the Western spirit and style of the Gold Country. Although the cabin feels remote, it is closely situated to Groveland (less than 5 miles) and Yosemite National Park (first gate less than 30 miles). One can hike and explore the ranch for miles in all directions. It is a charming, picturesque, romantic, and tranquil space for couples and solo travelers to unwind from life's daily stresses and great outdoor adventures.

The vibe at The Cabin at the Old Homestead
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This is not just a cabin stay, but a genuine ranch experience. To call it "glamping" is a drastic understatement, this felt like a romantic vacation home.
The cabin itself offers luxury amenities in a rustic setting with charming details. The weather for our weekend away was rather rainy, which made for a cozy, relaxing weekend of reading, painting, cooking, and playing guitar by the fire, with short hikes and exploring during breaks in the storm.
We feed horses, roamed the nearby hillside to enjoy spectacular panoramic views that stretch into the horizon, explored the old barns, pond, streams, and shacks scattered around this vast, open, secluded property.
In the evening, the fog came in and we cooked a hot meal in the fully equipped kitchen and perused the cabin's collection of books about SF, the Gold Rush, and the National Parks by the warmth of the fire. We even watched a little Planet Earth before bed!
I hope to return in the summer time with a group of friends to camp on our way out of Yosemite and make use of the outdoor cooking area!
We loved our weekend stay here! The cabin is beautiful & very comfortable, and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed to cook delicious meals. Bob and Zane, the caretakers of the ranch, were welcoming and made us feel right at home. The ranch itself is huge; we spent hours walking the property, seeing the horses and cattle. Be sure to plan on watching the sunset from the top of the ridge above the cabin, the view is spectacular!
What a magical spot! We were looking for a place to stay along the route to Yosemite and ended up regretting that we couldn't stay much longer. The cabin was easy to access but felt remote at the same time. This spot is the perfect blend of rustic and cozy but with modern amenities and a great kitchen and bathroom. The bed has lovely linens and was very cozy. And the ranch itself- gorgeous! We sat outside the night we arrived and enjoyed the quiet and the full moon. We'll be back soon to enjoy the rest of the ranch and the amazing outdoor kitchen! Thank you to our incredible hosts!
This place was a real surprise to us. So well appointed throughout - from the incredibly comfortable bed setting to the three different ways to make coffee (including fresh beans and a grinder!). Everything has been considered to make your stay as frictionless as possible.
It's a 1.5 hour drive into Yosemite Valley which got a little much by day 3 of our trip so would recommend it less as a day-trip-base and more as a jumping off point before going camping there if that's your plan.
A++ would stay again.
