Come Stay in our 12'X14' wall tent complete with wood floor. There is also a wood stove you can fire up on cold nights and a table. Just bring your own cot or air mattress and bedding, and enjoy nature in the Sierra foothills while listening to the birds sing. You might get to see a quail family a flock of wild turkeys or a deer come through. Drive right up to your camp site which is about 30' from the outhouse and just up the hill from the cooking area (about 150'). Enjoy cooking in our communal outdoor kitchen equipped with a sink, counter tops, propane stove, and earth oven. Bring your dutch ovens and cook on our special fire brick table. Sit around the fire pit and tell stories or roast marshmallows with friends. Enjoy the enclosed outdoor hot shower before retiring for the night or to start your day. Our donkeys love treats such as banana peals, apple cores, etc. and will thank you with a hardy HeeHaw. Just 31 miles from Yosemite Valley and only 9 miles from historic Mariposa. Fresh eggs and garden produce for sale when available, just ask.
At Sanctuary of the Oaks we currently have 11 campsites. Sites #2 through #7, and #10 are tent sites. Sites #1 and #8 are group sites that can accommodate two or three tents. Site # 9 is a 12 ft x 14 ft wall tent set up on a wooden floor platform. And the RV1 site can accommodate up to a 20 ft RV, no hook ups. It is possible to park your vehicle in front of, or next to all of the sites. However most of the parking spots are small and not level. So if you are planning to sleep in your vehicle, we would recommend that you book either the RV1 site, or book one of the other sites and park in the ‘extra parking’ area next to the ‘round house.’

Beautiful area. Kitchen set up is fabulous. If you like to cook with fire there are many fun choices. Really appreciate the recycling center organization and the compost bucket! Outdoor shower is wonderful. And there are two gorgeous donkeys.
I stayed here on a road trip to yosemite. It was a great stopping point and a comfortable place to stay. The property is secluded and quite at night. The canvas tent was spacious and had a wood burning stove to keep warm and cozy on cool evenings. Bring your own inflatable airbed or cots. The outhouse is only a few yards away and the site is separated from the rest of the tent sites at this location, The hosts were wonderful and greeted us upon our arrival. We got in after dark and it was pretty easy to find. In the morning we woke to a beautiful sunrise and were greeted by the two adorable resident donkeys who were happy to let us feed them. The best part of this site is the huge shared outdoor kitchen. If you enjoy cooking while you camp definitely plan a big dinner. You have options to cook on their propane stove, bake in their earth oven, or cook over a fire. There were also two big picnic tables. Also, there was plenty of firewood available on the property. Such a great place!
I booked Site #9 and it was a really great experience. We booked kinda last minute for Memorial Day weekend and I didn't have any trouble booking. Site #9 was GREAT, we had plenty of room for some air mattresses and all our luggage. There was a wood burning heater that was fully stocked with kindling and wood that kept us warm through the night. We had a great experience and would book again in a heartbeat.
This site was a gem. It provides you with all the comforts you could want camping, without the stress of packing it all! We enjoyed this beautiful property and amazing outdoor kitchen, and felt comfortable and safe during our visit. Would absolutely go back again, and don't forget to feed the donkeys! They loved our melon rinds. :)
Everything was as described, it was a lovely place to spend the night. My favorite part was cooking a delicious meal in the outdoor kitchen. Definitely look up how to use an earth oven first! It is a little bit of a drive into Yosemite from here, but nothing too bad. Would definitely recommend.
Wonderful stay just outside Mariposa at Sanctuary of the Oaks! We were upset when we learned camping spaces in Yosemite were either full or ridiculously overpriced, so we were thrilled that Jim and Beck's land had space, was affordable, and was close enough to Yosemite that we could drive in and out each day. The tent at Site #9 comfortably slept the 4 of us (one queen air mattress and two twins) with room to spare. Jim and Becky were quick to reply to our questions and requests. The outhouse and outdoors shower were clean and tidy and the kitchen area was well-equipped. Would stay again in a heartbeat! Just watch out for the bugs in the summer - once the sun went down they were out in swarms around the kitchen area and tried very hard to share our food with us.
