If you’re feeling the need to retreat into the wilderness, Santa Rosa Yellow Post Sites is the perfect haven away from the busy busy world. These are primitive spots located deep in the San Bernardino Forest, but in exchange for the lack of amenities you’ll be rewarded with super secluded campgrounds, few crowds, and good old fashioned peace and quiet. This is pretty primitive camping. High ground clearance is a must in the summer and 4wd required in the winter. There is one vault toilet on the mountain, and no source of potable water. For a real challenge try to find the USMC helicopter that crashed on the mountain in 1968, much of the remains are still there.
