My sprawling, 1.25 acre Mendocino property is beautifully situated in the redwoods for camping. Washer and dryer is available as is WiFi (remember, if you don't connect to WiFi you won't have to answer any messages.) Facilities are an extremely well maintained porta potty (hey, it's camping!) Sorry but Smokey says "no campfires.” We don't have a guest shower but can direct you to one nearby. Find yourself in nature. Reconnect with what really matters.
I'm here to offer any help as needed during your stay. I want you to have at least ‘quite a pleasant time,’ at best ‘a life-changing experience’ while visiting the coast. I've lived here for 26 years and can give you information about places to hike along the headlands, trails to discover in the forest plus all the local gossip. We can also discuss Mendocino's days as a lumber town in the 1800s and 1900s, its counter culture links to the back-to-the-land movement of the late '60s and early '70s and whether today ‘the old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born.’
We can help you discover spectacular walks along the ocean bluffs, trails through the redwoods and possibly the meaning of life. Mendocino is one mile from the campground with restaurants, a well stocked market and Big River Beach. The area offers kayaking, river canoeing, equestrian trail riding, pot growing, places of historic interest, aging hippies living in cabins in the woods and miles of public land for hiking and biking. You can also just sit quietly under the trees and stare blankly into the distance.

I liked this place. Though the host wasn't on the property, he left me feeling taken care of. It was close to town and camped among redwood trees.
Richard greeted me upon arrival and was extremely kind. The property was easy to get to and very serene and comfortable with beautiful trees. And as promised, the bathroom was extremely clean!
Very nice spot under beautiful redwoods and pines. The host Richard was very nice and helpful. A great place to stay and close to many activities.
Richard’s place was phenomenal. He was very responsive after I booked, even when in London. A quick phone call was unsolicited to make sure our stay was flawless for our 2 year old’s first camping trip in our RV. It was perfect, quiet and beautiful. Our dog loved the space as well. Bonus that our son had a playmate with his 3 year old grandson - he was so polite and sweet. We may make this an annual visit - the overall RV trip was a wonderful success!

Great Host! Had a great time reading through the trail guide and historical reading material provided, clean bathroom and water!
Quiet, and private. Will definitely consider again next time
If you have the opportunity, you should absolutely stay here! First of all, Richard is such an accommodating and welcoming host. He was so attentive and took the time to not only show me the grounds, but to share a bit about the history of Mendocino, where to go in town, hike options, beach access, etc. It was my most favorite night of camping because it was so peaceful and serene despite having other campers there as well. I was in a little nook under the trees and felt so safe. GO HERE!
Richard’s place is so conveniently located just outside Mendocino - yet beautiful and quiet. He welcomed us and provided us with a lot of helpful information (including a print out with lots of helpful info).
A really great spot for a stop-over near Mendocino. About five minutes drive from the town, the location was good for accessing everything this area has to offer. Richard was the perfect host and made the experience feel personal without being intrusive. Wifi and toilet worked well and the whole site was very clean and wholesome. The redwoods are beautiful, and the site itself flat and green - it was nice to have the trees all round, but also have the benefits of a clearing. Some traffic noise during evening rush hour, but this is normal for this part of the coast, and didn't spoil our stay. Very peaceful over night and in the morning.
