We acquired the property in 2015, out-competing a logger who wanted to cut the grove for timber. We want the redwood grove to demonstrate to our community, with its long history of forestry, that trees can be commercially valuable preserved in their natural state. You are helping us do that by staying in our woods! As of 2023 more than 80 work-exchange helpers through WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) have labored to help develop the property in exchange for room, board and a hands-on education. Adjacent to the redwood grove is a permaculture farm that supplies a large share of our nutrition. The property is also an overnight stopover for bicycle tourists traveling down highway 101, typically from Seattle or Vancouver to the Mexican border who find us through the website Warmshowers.

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse

Just as advertised but somehow more magical. It’s in a neighborhood, so there’s neighbors just outside the patch of forest. Some neighbors were playing kinda loud music late into the night, which was annoying, but not the fault of the host. There’s a lot of roosters crowing in the morning, which I really liked, but something to keep in mind. The treehouse itself was very cool. Sturdy, unique, mostly dry. The whole property was beautiful, and easy to find. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

Redwood Grove Tent Platform

Cozy spot during a rainy night!

The campsite was great! Experienced some rain overnight and the platform drained any excess water well. There was also decent tree cover! David was out of town for the night but his directions were clear and everything went smoothly. Would definitely come back if we’re in the area again!

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse

This is such a beautiful spot! We loved waking up in the trees with the sound of neighboring roosters. We also loved the bathroom attendant (a little banana slug) and made friends with the Ranger the cat. Would love to return in the summer!

WOW! What a gorgeous place to camp right underneath giant redwoods! Clean, safe, beautiful and David is such a friendly accommodating host and a great banjo player.
