The land owner, John, was incredibly welcoming as we arrived later in the evening than expected. After giving us a tour of the farm, he helped us make a fire for the night to warm up to. After dinner, we decided to get dessert at an old fashioned ice cream shop John had recommended which turned out to be overwhelmingly great as the portion size was massive even for two people. The next morning after chatting with John, he invited me in his home and showed me his beautiful vintage home, wine cellar and large collection of game trophies. Although his berries weren’t in season to harvest yet, I’m hoping to find myself back to pick some later in the year. Having a beautiful property to camp on and access to homegrown and locally produced berries is definitely a huge incentive - not to mention it’s only an hour away from places like the Sequoia National Forest. I highly recommend camping at Rancho Notso Grande if you ever find yourself in the area.
