this campsite is peaceful with nice forest around it and an easy walk to sunset views and rock house cafe restaurant. highly recommended, hosts david and karen are very kind and helpful hosts.
Tucked away in the beautiful mountains, you will stumble upon the Rock House Cafe and ultimately, the Rock House Camp. The camp hosts are absolutely wonderful - I checked in and said hello with them upon arrival and they directed me up to the site. The site had other campers in it, but you have your own little area and it’s private and feels extremely safe. There’s even the super private/secluded “manzanita site” so if you want to book it, you just send the owner a message after booking and let him know!! (The manzanita campsite is very secluded among manzanita trees and very beautiful)
I came on a Sunday, after a weekend with a packed campground and I would have never known that the campground had been full all weekend - the bathroom smelled great, there was no trash left out and about. It is a very clean area. There are nice picnic tables available in the campsites and a fire pit in the central area near the restrooms for everyone to use. There is a trash can in the bathroom if you need to throw things away or you can swing by the Rock House and the owners can show you which trash can to use to throw anything away. Just make sure you don’t leave your litter!!
Fun things to do in the area:
- Get food or delicious coffee at the Rock House Cafe - or bring an instrument and stop in on their stage and play a fun tune :)
- There are some hiking trails the owners can tell you about
- Cool train tunnels to walk through
- Cool rivers/bridges to explore - can even go out on the feather river!
It’s a fun spot, I would definitely recommend coming on a Saturday night, for there is LIVE music at the Rock House and you can even bring an instrument and do a bit yourself on the stage!
10/10 would recommend!! Such a great place.
