Totally sweet location and Nicole is super nice.
Only setbacks were the plumbing situation in the camper, which made for a muddy yard. But was remedied by being able to use the guest house restroom, which was nice.
And there is virtually no cell service out here.
Nicole was kind, accommodating (she allowed us to add another night to our stay, last minute) and was communicative while she was out of town.
The place was unpleasant. The trailer is old (we knew this going into it), but it has multiple cracks throughout the trailer, letting the cold air in all night. She has a heater that pops the breaker if you have anything else hooked in. My kids checked for bed bugs (bcus we stay in quirky places a lot) and the mattresses were just gross, hard and uneven; doubt they were bed bug infested, though I can't confirm.
Underneath one of the beds is a tub. The water from the toilet and sink drain into this tub. So yes, your poop and pee and everyone else's before you is sitting in it. I dont know when it was last emptied, but it leaks into the ground, then floods the entrance to the trailer. So not only are you sleeping over poo, you're now walking on it and tracking it into the trailer and your car; hardly a love shack. My dogs & kids (bcus they're gross like that) were so curious, they kept getting way too close to the tub of $#!+ way too many times. My dogs would have jumped in it if we would have left them off leash I'm sure!
The trailer did come with a portable stove top that was very useful and had some pots and pans, but bring your own dishes and silverware. We found a few mice droppings. We washed out the pots and used them anyways. We didnt get sick.
After the first night, we decided we would head out a night early. I tried emailing nicole but the wifi doesnt work well and have no service for miles out there, plus it was Thanksgiving wknd and didnt want to ruin her getaway, so I waited to try again Monday and no response/follow up. I was disappointed.
Despite this experience, we had the best time out there and I think if the tub got cleaned out and the trailer got a little scrubbing on the inside, it could be a good experience for many. We've stayed in slab city and even that was a less unpleasant experience. We would have camped outside if it wasn't for the tub-o-poo out there. Theres also a friendly and beautiful horse just steps from the trailer. And goats!!
It's just walking distance to pioneertown and a lovely walk. I hope to visit again soon!
