If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The camping platforms are large plywood platforms to elevate your tent slightly and keep it from getting scraped up. There are two right now and Tammy, the host, is planning on building a third. The highlight here is definitely the property itself. Tammy, the host, is super friendly and gave us the full tour. The place has a very unique and eclectic desert vibe. There’s lots of little activities - trampolines, an adult sized teeter totter, swimming pool, even a few horses. It’s also got an handful of fire pits, three grills, two picnic tables, an outdoor sink and an outdoor shower. You’re definetly be close to the trailer on the property, but you can easily find your own little corner to make a campfire and have some privacy. Or make friends with your neighbor’s and have a big communal campfire like we did. This would be a super fun place to get a big crew together and rent out both the platforms and the trailer and have the place to yourselves.
WE LOVED OUR STAY HERE! Tammy was an amazing host. She has different camp sites set up. Each spot has it's own firepit. We stayed in our tent and enjoyed exploring the campsite. We played on the teeter totter in the morning. It's a 5 min drive to the national park. My boyfriend and I will definitely visit again!
We really enjoyed our stay at Pink Cloud Ranch. Great location, not far from the park entrance. The dirt access roads are a little bumpy, but they lend the experience some authenticity. The place has that Southwestern desert art-ranch feel, complete with outdoor shower (cold water, a warm season feature), a couple of horses, and no lack of materials for whatever Tammy (the host) may have in mind for a future building/sculpture project. The sunrises at the ranch are stunning, and there's a great view of the night sky and also the valley below. The grounds are pleasantly (dimly) lighted at night. When we visited (in March), it wasn't quite hot enough for swimming, and the teeter-totter had recently been broken, so we didn't take advantage of those features. There's a useful sink on the premises and several places to light a fire, but be warned: evenings can be breezy and there are other houses nearby, so fires aren't always safe. Wildlife included a chatty cactus wren, a number of bunnies, a mouse or two, and some distant coyotes that, with the help of a neighborhood dog or two, occasionally put on quite a concert. Parking was a bit tight for our Subaru, so this one might not be ideal for big SUVs.
We found the platforms aka Pink Sky Ranch in a desperate moment when all campsites in the park were full. It's a cool, eclectic little spot, up a dirt road, just outside the West entrance. Tammy is super cool. Obviously very artistic. Convenient amenities like a sink with running water, outdoor shower, bathroom, fire pits, chairs. And lots of fun touches like the teeter totter, pool & trampoline. Avocado platform is the place to be. Has a bit of a hipster junkyard jamboree vibe overall, but it's cheap, fun & a great little home base. Fun for groups. Two main platforms, but you can pitch tents on the ground surrounding them.
What a magical experience! Tammy is the hostess with the mostess. Literally. With horses and the cutest friendliest puppies and a spacious campsite to enjoy the outdoors. Her place is perfectly located near the park and nearby town activities. I can't wait to go back!!!
Tammy is a great host and the location close to the JT is fabulous and super convenient.
The outdoor shower and toilet were great but be prepared for cold water when you shower. Not a problem when the weather is warm but could be a surprise in colder weather.
The three tent areas are all great and each have their own fireplace or fire pit with plenty of room for old and new friends to gather around. We had a fantastic time staying there and will definitely come back!
Host was friendly and nice; greeted us when we arrived. The camp ground was overbooked between AirBNB and Hipcamp, but the host worked to find a place for everyone to stay.
Unfortunately, the property is on the side of a hill where it was extremely windy, much more windy than the surrounding area. The forecast did include high winds, but the property did not yield much protection from wind. My advise is to book elsewhere if winds are forecasted above 10mph.
