Farm Discovery at Live Earth is a nonprofit organization working in the Pajaro Valley community to empower youth and families to build and sustain healthy food, farming, social and natural systems. Our home is a 150 acre patchwork of working organic farm, riparian corridor, oak and redwood forest in the Pajaro Valley of Santa Cruz County, California. We believe that we can transform personal and community health and improve our impact on earth by building and sustaining collaborative agricultural, ecological and social systems.  Our overall farming philosophy includes growing our crops as close and harmonious with nature as possible. We thrive on building diversity to enhance the native habitat and organic ecosystem on the farm. We work on establishing wildlife corridors, and ensure native plantings to improve water quality, reduce soil erosion, and create beneficial insect habitat.

Coming to this farm is such a unique experience you need to come see for yourself. The knowledge you’ll gain from learning about the land, the abundance of plant life, and the animal friends you’ll make will more than pay for itself. Simone even showed us what flowers we could eat on the farm and we added them to our dinner menu. We also got to visit the chickens and collect some eggs for our breakfast the next morning. It was so rad getting to use so many fresh ingredients during our stay there. We were really able to tell the difference the freshness makes in cooking with these ingredients we had just collected. We stayed in one of the three meditation huts. It is a simple structure that consists of hay in the walls, but you would never be able to tell looking at it from the outside. We brought our sleeping mats and sleeping bags and were pretty cozy. The walls keep the structure well insulated and surprisingly pretty sound proof as well so you’ll be able to have a quiet night sleep on the farm. We cooked our meals in the barn which holds a commercial sized kitchen and holds all the cooking supplies you could possibly need. Twas a great setting to cook up some great meals with our fresh produce. I can’t recommend this location enough! Such a good, positive energy surrounds it.
