Family Mountain Retreat - RV Only
family friendly weekend getaway
The campground is part of a 400 acre plot of a Catholic retreat center. The full hook up worked flawlessly. The spaces are practically flat. Lots of open space for kids to run around, but the "valley" is locked in, so even young kids can have free reign to explore with little supervision. I would recommend for a quick weekend get away with young kids. There isn't much to do, as there is only one trail to explore. We went in January, so the pool was closed. The bathroom was maintained nicely. Only one or 2 spots have views. We saw haws and buzzards. We heard an owl at night. Bring stuff to entertain yourself. Great for larger groups that want space to spread out. The organizer/host was there and absolutely fantastic. This is the perfect spot for newbie RV or campers. This was our first time with an new RV.

Perfect spot, full hookups, close!
Steve and his family were great! What a treat to find such an amazing spot to bring my family. Met some other great families too. Lots of kids running around, all in good fun! What a blast! We left already talking about the next time we could go! Thanks again!!

Family Mountain Retreat - RV Only
The facility was nice but the natural surroundings were just OK. The area is very arid with an abundance of dead grasses, scrub oak, and eucalyptus trees. No complaints about the camping site itself. We had full hookups and we were perched on an overlook with a nice view of the canyon. The bathrooms were clean and close by. It was only a 25 minute drive from my front door in Huntington Beach so I can't really complain. The biggest problem we had was with the noise from the Catholic Church at the bottom of the hillside. At 8pm, my wife and I had just settled into a nice little game of cribbage next to our portable propane camp fire pit when the music started. He was a mic'd up folk singer who sang Hispanic Catholic music in between gospel readings. That went on until well past midnight. Then at 4am mass started! It was as if the congregation was singing right outside my camper and the base from the organ was underneath my bed. After staring at the ceiling of our camper, and laughing for 45 minutes, we decided to forego our day and second night and packed up and left. We were home and back in bed by 6:30am. The camp host, Steve, said that its not normally that bad and that unfortunately, Friday night was a special 24 hour "adoration" celebration that he was unaware of. He couldn't have been nicer about it and refunded us all our money.

Serene, well kept, with WiFi
This place was perfect. There are electrical hookups at the tent sites, and there was wifi! The bathroom and showers are very well maintained. The campsite is within a catholic ministry retreat area, so it's very serene and well kept. The staff is very kind and warm, and Steve was super welcoming and responsive. The group hike was beautiful, and led by a rosary while everyone was hiking up. I will definitely be back here repeatedly for family camping!
