Wow, that sums it up! My stay was so fun that I had a hard time leaving. My host (Kathy) made homemade flat bread with basil pesto from the herbs in her garden and it was AMAZING! I also enjoyed homemade quiche, pizza and BBQ chicken. The bath house was incredible, they made it completely out of recycled items and the composting toilet is such a great idea, so wonderful for the environment and it was squeaky clean. One of my nights was topped off with a movie of my choice (Into the Wild) that was set up on an outdoor screen. Kathy and her family were there, it was such a cool and inviting vibe, I felt like I was at home. The tent set up is super cool, there is an actual bed inside, and carpet, way beyond my expectations! They allowed me to visit with their animals, goats, dogs, horses, pigeons, etc. The family was very welcoming when I wanted to join in but they were also respectful of my privacy. I took a quick trip to the American River as it is very close to their property. I told my son about my experience and now he wants to go so I am going to book another weekend tent for him! Thanks to Kathy and her family for such a memorable experience, I will be back!!
Hidden Gem in the Foothills is exactly what this place is. I had an absolutely incredible experience staying in such a fantastic camp site. Never have I camped out so well. The tent was set up like a studio apartment! Not only was there plenty of head room in the massive tent for me (6ft 1in) to walk around straight up, but there was also a queen sized bed and dresser for me to store my clothes. There was also a power strip in my tent so I could charge my phone and/or plug in a fan that they had provided. It got pretty warm so the fan came handy. Star gazing at night from my bed was an incredible way to wind down from a long day on the American River. I 100% recommended everyone to stay a weekend here, I had an amazing time and Kathy was the perfect host!
What a wonderful and perfect family weekend away! Kathy and her family were amazing hosts. We felt like a part of a wonderful community while still having space for family time. The tent, outside kitchen and bathroom facilities were cool, comfy and clean. The outside theatre was just a perfect way to end our evenings. My kids loved everything and it was a real joy to be on their homestead. Such a kid friendly enviroment! The location is brilliant for hiking, swimming, water activities and cute downtown shopping. We visited both Grass Valley and Auburn and enjoyed walking around while also swimming in Lake Clementine and the American River. Such a perfect location. We've already plans to go back!
