The vibe at Oak Hollow Farm
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Brenda has the cutest farm in the cutest town of Oak Glen.
When you arrive, you'll be greeted by the welcoming party of Axel, Chloe, Jenny, Shorty, and Oso - the five farm dogs. These dogs are living their best life on the farm. Brenda will give you a tour of the farm where you'll meet chickens, peacocks, horses, llamas, alpacas, geese, goats, sheep, pigs, cats, a rabbit, and a donkey - all who are the sweetest animals and love attention.
We loved taking the llamas on a walk, picking apples, and the fresh farm eggs were excellent.
Pitch your tent in any number of places on the farm, or even decide to sleep in the treehouse.
There is plenty to do outside the farm. There are many hikes in the hills nearby and Oak Glen is cute town with plenty of apple bakeries, orchards, and restaurants.
We had such an amazing time. This is the most charming, beautiful, picturesque, campsite imaginable. Not only will you camp in a gorgeous setting but you will also have the added bonus of interacting with the super special barn animals living on Oak Hollow Farm. During our stay, we also picked apples and ate fresh eggs, literally still warm from being laid that morning. We walked the lamas and saw a one day old baby alpaca nursing on its mama. We fed horses, pigs, a donkey and goats. We were greeted in the morning by a family of peacocks. We brought our dog, who quickly blended in with the little pack of super friendly farm dogs that greet you when you arrive. We played with the friendly barn kitties who were on the hunt for butterflies. There are geese that hang out in a cute little garden all day chatting with whoever walks by. Also There was a sweet little bunny as well! And then there was Brenda aka The host of the century! Brenda was so warm, generous and attentive. She's transformed her super well manicured, high functioning garden into the perfect camping destination. There's a clean outdoor bathroom with motion sensor lights so you can find your way at night. There's a wash basin for dishes, a picnic table, chairs and a fire pit. Brenda gives you so much space and privacy but also made herself available to show us around the farm and give us an interactive experience. We also had great conversation and really enjoyed spending some time getting to know her. She is truly a remarkable, genuine saint, with all she does to help these animals, many of whom were rescued from terrible situations. Brenda has a heart of gold and has created a sanctuary for animals and campers alike. If you get off the farm (which I don't blame you if you never want to leave) there is a small town just up the road with apple orchards, bakeries, restaurants and gift shops. It's very quaint and New Englandesque. We went out for some cider and donuts but quickly rushed back to the campsite of our dreams. This really is more than a camp site, it's a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget. But just to make sure the details stay fresh, we will be back again very soon! ;)
What an absolutely magical little slice of heaven! From the most kind, welcoming, friendly family who felt like true friends after a day on the farm to the most lovely menagerie of animals one could imagine....dogs, cats, sheep, goats, geese, llamas, alpaca, peacocks, chickens, pigs, donkey, rabbit, horses...Oh My! This place is so special. The property itself is so very lovely and set super close to all the fun in Oak Glen. Total gem. We already can't wait to come back.
We had such an amazing experience camping at Oak Hollow Farm! We loved getting to see Brenda's farm animals - there are dogs, cats, alpacas, llamas, chickens and geese (which btw were all very sweet and welcoming)! Brenda was the sweetest host, we talked about everything from our love for vintage harleys to my wife's nursing career. It would be a treat for you guys to meet her.
There were a few different spots to camp. We chose the spot with the enclosed pen and a huge tree we got to put our hammock on. We highly recommend to camp here during Fall. There were so many different colored trees and plants. We live in Los Angeles, so it was nice to be somewhere that felt like the middle of nowhere, without having to drive hours from home. It was secluded but just a few miles from town. Getting grocery or gas is not a problem! Wifi is spotty, but it was nice being able to take a break from internet/social media and simply be in the moment with nature.
We enjoyed our stay so much here, we definitely will be coming back with our dog next time!
This place is magical. The beautiful grounds. The animals. The ambience. Everything.
Brenda is the best host. She provided us with firewood, lawn chairs and even some of her hen's fresh eggs. Our kids loved be able to join her on her rounds feeding the animals and we all enjoyed picking apples from her orchard. There are picnic tables, outdoor sinks and a very clean portable toilet. We had a short but fabulous stay and will definitely be back. Thank you, Brenda, for sharing your paradise with us!
