Had a great time!
This place is rustic as shown in the photos. Eros & Michael are working hard to set this place up and although there's definitely work that needs to be done, we felt great there and pitched our tent outside on the grass. They set up a bonfire and sat with us for a while and it was really nice. Recommended for people who are just looking for a place to pitch their tent.
Kind, welcoming hosts; rustic site
Eros and Michael were excellent hosts! They are extremely kind and welcoming. The campsite is very simple and rustic, as they let us know ahead of time, so we knew what to expect. We were their first hipcamp guests, and they asked us for our feedback on how they can continue to improve the experience for hipcampers - they really care about your comfort and providing A+ hospitality. They made us a fire in their fire pit when we arrived, and we sat around the fire with them and the other hipcampers and chatted for a while - they are so friendly and fun to talk to! Highly recommend this hip camp if you are looking for something simple.
Fireside chats near fort bragg
Eros and Michael are the nicest and most generous hosts you'll ever come across. There is plenty of room for tents on their property just a short skip away from Fort Bragg. With a community fire pit and a welcoming atmosphere; I was delighted to not only have a great place to sleep but that I was given the opportunity to meet such nice people and other campers staying as well. Great times and thanks again for all of the local tips and spot on recommendations!
We enjoyed our time at Nelson Sanctuary. Eros went out of her way to offer generous, friendly hospitality. While at her camp, we felt safe. Nelson Sanctuary is convenient to town, yet situated in a rural area. The camp environment is quiet and peaceful. Please note that the facilities are rustic.
Eros was such a wonderful host. She even had a campfire going for us to welcome us when we arrived. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a bathroom available to use. The place was nice and quiet and quick to access from the Fort Bragg area.
Eros mentioned that the site is a work in progress and that we were among her first camping guests. There's not much to offer here yet, so I wouldn't suggest going into the experience expecting more than a humble place to pitch your tent for a night. Also, note that there's a seemingly unfriendly dog onsite, although Eros is working on training her. I recommend exploring the beautiful parks nearby (some have camping options) as well as the best fish and chips at nearby Sea Pal Cove.
A fine site
Eros' site is a good place to stay if you want something centrally located between Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Her site has all the basics you'd need for an overnight stay - campfire, water, toilet. She greeted us right away when we got to her place, and showed us around , then gave us ample privacy.
Nelson Retreat is for an open minded individual who is on a budget and wants a great location. This area is a just a few miles from the ocean and the forest. The property does need a lot of work but if just want a place to throw up a tent, this would be okay. Eros is very friendly and laidback.
