Dave and Mel were very nice and accommodating throughout our stay — Mel even made us some delicious goat cheese. Our site, #2 Rocky Overlook, was also very private and spacious. A few things to mention: there are Trump/Pence political signs outside of their house; the wake up time is quite early due to the animal noises (although the provided ear plugs helped a lot); and it is quite hot (seasonal).
Mel was great host! She welcomed us when we arrived and provided us with all we needed. Her goats, ducks and donkeys were very cute and fun to play with. Mel's hospitality was amazing. She treated us with fresh eggs vegetables from her farm and let the kids feed the baby goat with a bottle. We were a group of 14 with 6 tents and we had enough spaces for all of us. The fire pit and the BBQ was a great addition to our experience! overall we had a great experience! Highly recommend.
This is our first Hipcamp experience, so we weren’t sure what to expect :) Mel and Dave were fantastic hosts - checking in (but not too much) to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and had what we needed. This is a fun farm stay, a great place for jumping off to explore the area!

I cannot imagine a better experience for my family. The amount of interaction with Mel and David was absolutely amazing. The knowledge Mel has of her animals combined with her willingness to share and instruct kept the kids (as well as myself!) talking about what we learned for days afterward. Thank you so much Mel for the amazing experience. You are truly one in a million. And the facilities were charming, stylish and functional. We look forward to seeing visiting again. It was absolutely lovely.
Wonderful stay! The campsite area is secluded from the ranch area and feels very private. I was the only camper there although there is a site for another tent (or 2?). As a woman camping alone I felt very safe and welcomed. The cold outdoor shower on a hot afternoon after hiking felt sublime! And the baby goats were so adorable.

Dave and Mel have a beautiful place and were exceptionally great hosts. They accommodated the extra needs of our large group and went above and beyond our expectations. The animals and gold panning were just icing on the cake. We would definitely come back here and are so grateful we found #2 Rocky Overlook at Nana’s Ranch.

This was amazing experience. We were two families with 4 kids. The kids loved it! They got to pet goats, and help with farm chores. Mel was wonderful host. The porta potty and sink were clean and great. I was worried about cold shower, but so hot there it was a blessing. The only negative is there only little bit of shade. We had brought an awning so that took care of it, but i am glad we did. We went to bass lake (about 30 min away) and swam all day!!!! It was everything i could want during covid.
Fantastic site to stay at, with wonderful hosts and a fun environment with animals. Highly recommend this location for close proximity to Yosemite and other activities. The site has a large amount of space and includes a table and a large umbrella to keep you cool during the summer, as well as a grill. There’s even a custom built outdoor shower (cold water only) and a clean outhouse with an outdoor sink. Don’t miss out on the morning chores! It’s an opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals and you may find yourself with some treats to add to your breakfast. If we are ever in the area, we will surely be back!
Amazing hosts, a super unique camping experience, and an overall great time!
