While staying at Mountaintop Escape, engage with the curious  Ruby Throated Hummingbirds, encounter the California Mule Deer who roam the property during the early mornings and evenings, and experience the flock of audacious wild turkeys who have always lived here, and still behave like they own the land!

There are amazing waterfalls and swimming holes on the McCloud River, just a little more than an hour from here, and waterfalls in Dunsmuir, on the way to McCloud. If youkeep heading East towards Lassen, you'll find Burney Falls, in Burney California. All three falls are hidden gems and well worth your time and effort to search them out.

Once you arrive, I can supply firewood and a mini charcoal bbq w/charcoal available for purchase/rent upon request.

Martha is a wonderful host! Very sweet, welcoming and accommodating. We loved her property and there were several really nice touches / perks like a wash station, lamp for getting to the bathroom at night, hammock, fire pit, flushing toilet, wifi and she provided ice and water upon our arrival. Our group was camping for 2 weeks and this was a nice break from the more wilderness and remote sites, but still felt very private. Loved camping here and would definitely stay again!

Very friendly vibes... I came with a cab over camper and tucked in by the garage which gave extra privacy except for from the wild turkeys that roost in the trees right by the sight. Great location minutes from the dam and freeway but private enough to make this better than a crowded campground. I plan on coming back next time I’m in the area.

Martha is very kind and helpful. There is a spot a bit away from the main house where I parked my van. There is a private toilet and washing station. There is a separate area to put up a tent and spots to sit. The area is in the trees and very pretty. It is a few miles off the freeway so an easy stop to make. I felt very safe and comfortable there. Thank you Martha!

I camp a lot of places in my life I know camping.I really wanted to get away off the beaten path...it’s not even close to what I was looking for when I got there. I felt I would of been camping in someone’s backyard. I could of done that at my own home. Garage with parked cars! Don’t waste your time here. I found other campsites around the area that is much better....REAL CAMPING!

Nice site, v. close to house

The site was nice and flat and well-maintained, but from the Hipcamp page I would not have realized it is RIGHT next to the house/garage, so it’s not a particularly private spot if that’s what you’re looking for. Martha was very friendly and offered lots of recommendations.

Very welcoming host, Martha had a pitcher of ice water as we drove up which was extremely pleasant (and needed) given the temperature!
Perfect overnight stop for our group of 3 women on our way back to Los Angeles!
