Our stay at Moonlight Ranch was so much fun! The highlight of our stay was feeding the cutest baby llama named Cuzco and riding a horse for the first time. Thank you Jessica for having us :)
Jessica was so nice and accommodating! She made sure we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable. She is so great with her animals and answered a billion of my questions, offered to let us ride the horses and went out of her way to bring a baby goat for me to feed. There was a fire ring and we camped out in our Jeep. Also, it was very close to the Joshua tree park entrance, so we went there for sunset, it was perfect! Thank you for your kindness, Jessica!
I got to hold a baby goat!
Jessica was a wonderful host, I was completely comfortable to connect with her for anything I needed during my stay, and she was helpful as I was planning and making my way to Joshua Tree. She even checked-in on me with a simple text while I was out in the park knowing that I was travelling alone.
If you like being around animals, this is the perfect place to stay (you will be serenaded by a cacophony of furry friends!). If you're interested, Jessica will invite you in to meet the animals and help with feeding. Bring a bag of carrots and you will have many new friends.
There are fire pits (with wood for sale), a clean porta-potty, and ample room for campers to stretch their legs and set-up. I was the only camper at the time of my stay, but I think this would also be a great place to stay if you have a large group and didn't want to risk first-come first-served in the park. Easy to get to, easy access to both the main and 29 Palms park entrances.
Moonlight Ranch is a beautiful working ranch run by a family that rescues horses and other animals from abuse and neglect. It seemed these animals are now in a place where they are loved and able to heal. It is easy to see that Jessica and her family are passionate about their work and have taken great care to make Moonlight Ranch a great experience for everyone.
Moonlight Ranch provides a very clean vault toilet and cinder block fire pits. They also sell firewood and were always available for any questions we had. My group enjoyed meeting the animals and hearing their rescue stories.
The ranch is located less than 10 minutes from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, making it ideal for early morning hikes without the hassle of trying to get a campsite inside the park. We were close enough to town to enjoy Joshua Tree Saloon and pick up some ice at a local gas station.
I highly recommend Moonlight Ranch for your next Joshua Tree stay!
We loved the moonlight ranch. It’s filled with all types of beautiful animals. Petunia the pig is an angel. Bring apples to feed the animals, they will love you. Our host was very kind and gave us a tour and answered all of our questions.
It was really special waking up next to the beautiful animals. I even did some yoga next to petunia as the sun rose.
Take notice that you are staying on an animal farm so there will be animal sounds even during sleeping hours.
I definitely recommend animal lovers to stay here!
Jessica was lovely. A good place to camp, and you see the same stars there as you do in Joshua tree, so if you want to camp, but there is no room in the campsites, it is a great place to go. Nice to see the rescued animals too!
My friends and I camped here 1 night and had an amazing time. It’s so peaceful and beautiful under the stars. We enjoyed meeting and learning about all the rescues animals. Jessica was a great host! She took her time introducing us to all the animals and explaining their backstory.
The campers next to us complained about the rooster crowing in the morning but what do you expect camping on a farm?
Would definitely recommend, especially if you’re an animal lover.
