The vibe at Monarch Hot Springs
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Monarch Hot Springs was amazing! Such a treat being able to stay so close to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs for such a great price, and in the middle of 20 acres of land with expansive views. And can we talk about that Hot Spring tub? So relaxing and detoxifying. Paul was a great host too! He hung out with us while we soaked in the tub under the stars. Cool dude.
Highlights of Monarch Hot Springs include:
-Incredible views of Palm Springs, the windmills, the mountains, and the desert
-Laying under the stars and the milky way while soaking in the hot tub
-Cool little greenhouse to hang out in
-Paul provided us with a few mason jars full of water
-Porta-potty on site
-Pitch your tent anywhere you want on his 20 acres!
-Easily accessible by car or van #vanlife
I will be back!!!!! Thanks Paul!!!
Monarch hot springs is an oasis. Only 15 mins to palm springs with great views of the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio mountains. Just far enough out of town to feel secluded while you watch the sunset from the hot spring. Paul was great. 5 stars!
Paul is a total chiller. He was incredibly accommodating and fun to hang out with while we stayed at Monarch Hot Springs. He told us all about how great this land is for detoxing--sweat out toxins in the Joshua Tree heat, rejuvenate in the natural hot spring pool, repeat.
We pitched our tent right near the hot spring pool (a short walk from the parking area) and took a midnight dip to stargaze. There's plenty of space for tents throughout the property and the ground is completely flat.
He's also working on a cool greenhouse that's already starting to attract butterflies. Make sure to check it out on your way in.
I didn't really know what to expect as we were the first to camp at this location, and was blown away by Monarch Hot Springs. It's an undeveloped oasis in the middle of a populated area, which is so hard to find these days.
From where you park the car, it's about a 4-minute hike to the hot spring. It reminds me of the distance you have to hike to get to the secluded spring at Travertine, if you've been. It's enough of a trek to feel like you've worked for it and you're away from civilization but close enough to not be a hassle if you forgot anything in your car.
If I could describe Monarch Hot Springs in one word, it would be refreshing. From the water (you can drink it!) to the natural beauty of the area. I feel so fortunate to have visited this place in its current state, and hope that when I come back it is even more rewilded than it is now. Thanks for having us, Paul!
Beautiful hot spring tub that is drained after every use. The water is very warm (but not too hot), which means you can soak for hours! Primitive/dispersed campsite (with the exception of a porta-potty), so bring your own chairs/camp table. Two pool/lounge chairs are on site. There is a garden hose-style spigot for water, and Paul is working to turn it into a shower. The nighttime views are a perfect combination of city lights and star gazing. It's possible to drive up and park (we camped tub-side in my truck's rooftop tent), but you'll need a vehicle with a bit of clearance. If not, it's a very short walk from where you'd park your car out front. Gated property - we felt very safe.
Monarch Hot Spring was incredible. Imagine the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere overlooking the nearby mountains at sunrise while soaking in a warm private hot spring. This is exactly what we did while at Monarch Hot Spring and could not have had a more relaxing stay. Not to mention, Paul was an excellent host, offering to help us with anything we needed and always being available if we had any questions or needed assistance. I'd highly recommend staying with him and am looking forward to returning in the future.
I had such a wonderful experience, there was no one around and we literally soaked for hours! The day was so beautiful and the sunset over Mt. Jacinto was magical I'm still trying to figure out if I dreamt it or not.
Paul is THE best host, he really wants you to have a good time and enjoy your stay. His love for Monarch butterflies was my favorite part about him and the fact that he also uses this land to grow milkweeds for them just made me fall head-over-heels for this place.
Monarch Hot Springs is so cool ! The natural mineral pool is the perfect temperature and surrounded by amazing views. Paul was extremely easy to contact and explained everything to us to make our time at Monarch Hot Springs enjoyable. We will definitely be back!
