The cost of the campsite for what you get is absurd. We camped on a weekend when all "three" campsites were in use. We camped directly next to our car in the driveway (as the driveway is the only place to camp) and were barely 6 feet from a neighboring campsite. This site is not Covid safe. Mitchel did not wear a mask the entire time and despite me expressing my ICU nursing background and knowledge of CDC guidelines, he responded that he was a CO2 emission expert and it was more harmful to rebreathe your CO2 with a mask than helpful to prevent transmission. He remained at the fire pit the entire night and talked only about quantum grammar - an ideology started by a conspiracy theorist. Despite being kind and welcoming, the beliefs he was openly sharing were bizarre. The camping bathroom is inside his cabin which is his primary bathroom. The soap provided was a communal soap bar which is also against CDC covid standards. Mitchel's place is within the redwoods and provided a nice view to wake up to, but I will not be coming back to camp.

Beautiful, but a shared site

Mitchel’s Land was beautiful - redwoods on site, very well maintained, and just a short walk from swimming and hiking. Mitchel was very warm and welcoming, and made sure we had all the information and supplies we needed. We were saddened, however, to find upon arrival that the site had simultaneously been rented out to another group of people. At the time of booking, there was no indication that the site would be shared with others (apart from Mitchel), which was very important to us because we are social distancing. We ended up leaving and not spending the night. If your hope is to have this space to yourself/your group, I would reach out and confirm this before making your plans.

We spent 2 nights at this location.
The good:
* The host was very friendly and welcoming, was friendly with our kids and helped out when we asked.
* There’s a sweet, small grove of redwoods to walk in and explore, but has poison oak as well.
* A great fire pit with a metal grill you could cook on
* The location is great - 2 min drive to beautiful Cazadero creek and 15 min to Jenner.

The problems: We feel the site is misrepresented here on Hipcamp, (although it may get updated after our stay).
* There’s no kitchen. There’s a sink with cold/hot drinking water, and an outdoor electric plug. That’s it.
* The camping area is cramped, you’re basically camping in the corner of someone’s driveway, with main road on the other side of the wooden fence. If you’re with family/friends, you could fit 2-3 tents close to each other, but there’s no privacy for individual parties.
* The camping area is further limited by a seemingly defunct car and uneven ground.
* The shared space has a good fire pit and some chairs, but only one picnic table.
* It’s NOT set up to be Covid safe. The shared areas are designed for interaction and proximity, and the camping area is not set up for proper social distancing. The host did not wear a mask at any time, and did not seem concerned with Covid protocols.
* The bathroom is a port-a-potty, with no running water. It was in clean condition, but good to know up front that’s what you get.
* You need to bring your own firewood, (or pay the host $10/box).

All in all, it seemed to us that the host is new to this world of hospitality and is trying to figure it out. The space is not really set up for individual parties at this price point, but there may be improvements over time if he takes in the feedback from us and other reviewers.

I had a very enjoyable and relaxing time for a one night camping retreat at :Mitchel's-Land in Cazadero, CA. I enjoyed how easy it was to find the coordinates in his directions (although an exact number of the address could be helpful as I went to the across the street neighbors house first).

The enclosed space made the stay feel private and secure while still having a plot of land to set up my tent and park my car off the main road. I liked having a clean toilet access and the host offered me tea in the morning which was a nice gesture. The campsite had a great campfire where I was able to have smores and food with the other guests as well as chat with the welcoming and engaging host.

Mitch gave me a great recommendation for a morning hike along the nearby creek trail to find a secluded watering hole and I enjoyed the serene redwood scenery of the surrounding area. It was easy to check-in and check-out on time and he answered any questions I had as well as provided lots of engaging conversation and entertainment throughout the stay. I would definitely recommend this magical place to anyone needing some natural escape during this crazy time in our world.

Adorable little property surrounded by tall redwoods. Mitchell was a very kind host. This was perfect for me and my two boys who loved the creek. Bring water-shoes to go explore. We found baby frogs, fish and crawdads. Goat Rock beach is 15 minutes away and was fun to check out before we went home.

My husband, my daughter who is 13yrs old and my two doggies stayed at this magical place. We had a relaxing and fun time exploring the small towns. We went to the river which is about 10 minutes away and there is a general store with plenty of food and other supplies. Cazadero general store is like 5 minutes away but doesn't have much.
Mitchell the host was welcoming and helpful. We had a great time by the fire eating marshmallows.
Our dogs enjoyed the space and freedom. We are planning to go back soon.
Thank you Mitchell!

This was a lovely spot in the woods near Cazadero. There was not as much space as we expected, but it was well maintained and the other campers were respectful and friendly. The water and bathroom facilities were well maintained and it was lovely. We enjoyed walking in the woods and swimming in the creek nearby.
