Miner's Flat tent camping

Charming hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were always there to supply odds and ends we'd forgotten (briquets, long dog leash). Grounds are clean, hygienic and well-stocked facilities (e.g., grillers, tables, chairs, parasols, bug spray, pack of cards), earth level and covered with straw, sufficient shade. There's a creek running through the grounds, but apparently only into late spring (dry in summer). Our dog loved the place, lording over the entire grounds, accompanying our kids to their bi-daily visits to feed the local lamas on the hill (yep). There are two BYO tent locations, one pre-built large tent, and one caravan. The tent area would be great for families who want to be together, but probably too crowded for strangers. We were the only people on the grounds, so cannot say for sure, but you'd need to whisper for those other people not to hear you.

By car, convenient access to excellent burger joint, general store, and gas station 3 miles down the road; another 5 miles down to the river (rafting etc.).

The site is very near a road that, though not a thoroughfare, leaves you feeling you're not "in nature," and especially at night when you're stargazing.
