Amazing private getaway with a view
Mike's Desert Oasis was perfect for a private getaway with a view right next to Anza-Borrgo Desert State Park. It was nicely tucked away off a main road and right next to the host's market/store which he offers a discount to the campers! He was a very nice guy and told us a lot about his land and what he's planning on doing with it! One of his plans includes adding an orchard to the property! Can't wait to see his plans take shape.
Staying at Mike's Desert Oasis was a dream - it was exactly what I envisioned to be the setting for my birthday. We had a romantic fire and dinner onsite and enjoyed the absolute STILLNESS and expansive views of the sky. I will be back to enjoy this slice of nature. + Mike is AWESOME. SO welcoming and gave us everything we needed...even drove us right up to the site! Thank you Mike!
Private getaway all to yourselves
Mike's property was amazing. We had the whole place to ourselves with complete privacy. I loved all the views and short hikes all around. Its right near the entrance trail to Anza-Borrego State Park, tucked away in the high desert mountains. The landscape reminded me of views you would see in the Eastern Sierras, but it is conveniently just an hour and half drive from San Diego compared to a 5 hour+ drive to the Alabama Hills. Its a hidden gem that must be viewed at least once in ones life. It may get windy on the hill top there so be prepared. He also has other camps on the property that seem a bit more sheltered from the weather but they weren't as private. Since the parks were closed due to the virus this was a perfect getaway from the choas of the city. The directions are easy just meet Mike at the local market in Ranchita and he will drive you there. I recommend arriving atleast a few hours before sunset so you can set up your tent before its dark. He sells firewood if needed. The site has a nice deck to chill on, a fire pit and chairs. I would defintely recommend this spot.
We loved our stay here. It was really nice and private and lots to explore around. The only downside was that it got really windy at night, not sure if this was just the weather the weekend we were there (it was a little rainy and cold that weekend) or if it's regularly windy at night but just be prepared for that! All and all I would definitely come back here, it was great! Loved having the undercover and picnic table/chairs/ and firepit already there for us.
