***COVID-19 Guidelines & Protocols***We have set these policies to ensure an enjoyable and safe camping season:

  • Please be prepared for longer wait times at the front gate as we review new protocol and onboarding procedures on site with individual guests. Upon entry at our front gate, please pull over where instructed, and wait in your car to be checked in. In compliance with CDC guidelines, all campers will have their temperature taken remotely from outside the car, and asked a few questions clarifying origin and locations visited that day. We will also record your driver’s license and plate number. Thank you for your patience as we evolve together.
  • Please plan for a completely self-sufficient campout, and BYO EVERYTHING!This includes food, stove, cookware, cups/plates/utensils, ice, napkins, and toilet paper! Please contact us before you arrive if you would like to rent a cooler, and remember that Mendocino Magic does not allow styrofoam anywhere on the property.
  • To minimize contact within Mendocino County, we request that you prepare groceries and supplies within your home county before traveling to the Magic.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10 feet from people outside of your group at all times, especially with use of any commons such as hiking our pathways, swimming in the reservoir, or while playing sports (please bring your own games and floaties-we will not be supplying them this season).
  • Wear a mask when you are not at your campsite.
  • Use the hand wash stations located outside of the portapotties.
  • As always, please pack out all of your waste and dispose of your trash at home. Prepare in advance with cardboard burnable or compostable packaging to minimize waste, as well as a garbage bag to pack out your waste.
  • Any persons seen not complying with these updated guidelines will be asked to leave without a refund. We are not kidding about this!

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Mast Family Camp is one of our group campsites located close to the Lanai and the Stage.  There is also a large firepit, so you can cook your dinner over an open flame AND enjoy it right at your campsite! The site also features a wooden deck that comes with a large canvas tent.  The tent comes empty, and is 200 square feet with a 16' diameter.

Wake up to gorgeous light (check out the photos!) and take a dip in the reservoir- it's just a short hike away to swimming and catch-and-release fishing!

Although it is secluded, Mast Family Camp is in close proximity to portapotties, a hot outdoor shower, and The Lanai (our communal outdoor kitchen), and our stage.

Currently reservation requests for this campsite are set for 5 campers. When booking the site for more than 5 guests please edit your request to reflect accurate headcount information in advance of your arrival. Additional campers are $30 per adult nightly.

***A NOTE ABOUT FIRES: Some campsites at Mendocino Magic have a firepit, but occasionally during the summer months the state bans fires for campers. We will keep you posted about the status of fires on the property when you book your reservation. Since we would hate to take campfires out of the camping experience, we have started the #onefire campaign to keep campers happy with a fire at our communal cooking area at the lanai, where on Friday and Saturday nights there will be a fire for all to enjoy. During a fire ban, please do not start a fire up at any camp's fire ring - guests who do so will be asked to leave without a refund.

Extensive area next to the stage and common areas to camp, great for big groups. Plenty of hammocks to enjoy the shade, grills, fridge and campfire nearby.

For the amount we paid ($300 / night for 3 tents) we expected A LOT more. Our camp site was overgrown with poison oak, and minimal flat space. We were given a rake to flatten the site ourselves! The shared spaces were fine; and hot showers a nice touch. But unfortunately the reservoir was hard to find an access point and difficult for our kids to swim in, so we drove far away to find another watering hole. Worst of all was the attitude given by the staff. Mackenzie tried to be accommodating, but a lot of her support staff were aggressive and made us feel like we werent welcomed or they were doing us a favor by letting us camp there. All around, a HUGE disappointment and we wouldnt feel right recommending this place.

Mendo Magic for us was just that... magic! We were greeted with smiles and a friendly host and staff, almost like we had been friends already for years. Our group stayed at the “Mast Family” campsite and it was beautiful. Tucked off the main path in the trees so it felt very private and cozy. There is a stage at this site with a “glamping tent” that is empty right now due to COVID, but it was the perfect storage area for our things. This site we were told is fairly new so the ground itself feels that way. We had to work on raking out our site of rocks and uneven dirt but that’s just all part of the camping experience! It was large enough for three small-medium sized tents and one big one in the area near the fire pit and picnic table and close walking distance to the porta-potty and hot outdoor shower. It was also a less than 10 minute walk to the reservoir for swimming and it was so beautiful! Surrounded by trees, the water was the perfect temp for us to chill on our floaties. It was the best nature getaway, we highly recommend ✌🏼

Mendocino Magic is as the name says - Magic. There are lots of places to hike and a wonderful lake to swim in. There are canoes you can borrow and paddle around the lake. There are several hot showers. At night the sky is filled with stars since there is no city light. We were able to see the spectacle of the comet. The site we had was shaded and peaceful. The staff has ice and firewood if you need it.
