First I would like to start off by saying the host is amazing and super nice! The campsight however, didn’t actually exist. It was basically their backyard with grass and flowers. There isn’t even a road to drive to your campsight, it had to be carved out with my car. I would expect at least a flat, ground clearing somewhere to set up tents and maybe a fire, but that isn’t available. You have to find an area flat enough to set up your tent. The description is also very misleading. It says the campsight us for 5, so I assumed 5 would be included the $58. Nope, after adding 4 guests and checking out my total was over $125, to camp in someone’s backyard... They were the only option available that wasn’t booked the day I had to go, hence why I spent the money.
Mara was a very welcoming host! We enjoyed feeding the horses and the night stars! The campsite, however, was not kept super well. My boyfriend and I had to trim some weeds to make a big enough clearing for our tent. If we are paying for a "cleaning fee" (an additional $30) I would just assume that the campsite spots would be cleared enough for a car path and a tent site upon arrival. In the essence of camping, it was still a good experience.
Soft ground, green everywhere.
Short version of our stay here: easy peasy.
We visited in Spring - which made for great sleeping weather. Soft grass to set the tents on, there was a table nearby with seats. The site is very recently open to camping, so depending on the season you may be situated in different areas than I. The host is very easy to communicate with, and in the future she's opening up more spots and possibly an RV shelter to use! We also saw a lot of flowers, and very friendly horses.
It's a pleasant town, with hikes not too far away. Not to mention local and inexpensive avocados! I'd recommend this spot for anyone in the area or passing through.
Mara was a very warm & welcoming host. She made sure we were comfortable despite arriving after-dark. I wish I could have explored the property more, but what I did see in our short stay was very serene. The morning bird songs were incredible!
If you read any other reviews you know Mars was awesome. Super friendly and we felt comfortable right away. My wife loved the horses and there was a nice hiking trail just a short walk away. It isn’t a ‘remote’ campsite but It was a great weekend getaway and reset. Some flys during the day but we set up camp relatively close to the horses. Could use some clearing of debris and wood piles near where we camped but overall it was a very good experience and Mara was a great host. We would definitely stay again for a weekend under the stars.
