The Maple Creek Ranch and Tree Farm has been family owned and operated since 1934. The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Sweden, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north.   While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2  primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking  *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV.  Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's. We look forward to meeting you!

Site 2 - Forest Camping
Great place ! Definitely a gem!
The campground is very nice ! On a side of a hill will nice flat areas for tent! Short hike to the pond down the hill and on the train tracks took me straight to the pond on. The camping areas are located in the forest about a quarter to half a mile walk to the pond. There was a very nice and clean Bathroom !!! (totally unexpected for camping but appreciate it!!) Nice hiking areas, We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves ! Unlucky it started raining. So so hard and my tent didn’t hold up. We had to jet on our last night :( Kristin showed us over to our site and was very nice ! Would definitely recommend.!

Site 2 - Forest Camping
Such a great spot!
This is such a great spot without having to drive hours away from home! It feels very remote, they have fire pits, picnic tables, a flush toilet, they gave us wood for our fire, and they even brought me matches when I realized I forgot mine! And it has a pond you can kayak on. I would absolutely recommend!

Site 2 - Forest Camping
Ron and Kristin were so hospitable! They kept us informed of stormy conditions and gave us a chance to cancel. Unfortunately I never checked my messages so when we got there, they even offered to let us stay in their trailer. We decided to camp out in our tent regardless, but they made sure we had what we needed and let us pick between the 2 open sites. We couldn’t have had such a great stay without them. On top of all of this, the property is absolutely beautiful. Peaceful and secluded but still close enough to the main house to feel safe.

Site 1 - Forest Camping
Secluded but close enough to people. Beautiful forest setting. Love the stocked pond, very nice. John was absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful as we camped in the rain. Can’t wait to return this summer. Thank you Kristin.
