The campsite was quiet and private. Luke was an excellent host and the Wilderness Ranch is just wonderful. The old orchard is fun to explore. We swam in the pond, picked blackberries, watched the deer, and enjoyed the view of Mt. Shasta. McCloud Falls and Burney Falls were an easy day trip. We would certainly camp there again.

Lucas is a phenomenal host! We’ve stayed at his ranch twice now in our campervan. The RV site is in the shadow of the main house, so it’s not the most private. But that was fine with us. Go visit. Lucas and his family are great!

The apple orchard and the meadow were both peaceful and pleasant places to camp. The hiking trail on the property was a nice bonus!

Even though we had unusual weather during our stay, Lucas handled it in stride and we had an incredible night of lightning and thunder storms! While he originally planned on setting us up in the apple orchard, the rains and oncoming storm changed our plans. Lucas showed us to the teepee site where we had more tree coverage to keep us dry (fingers crossed) and put us closer to the main house which had the game room and toilet indoors if we needed to come out of the rain. It was a beautiful short path through the woods, lit by solar path lights. Coming back uphill is also a nice mini cardio workout ;)

We had short reprieves in the downpour to set up the tent, and cook dinner under the protection of the hatchback, and called it an early night while we enjoyed falling asleep under the illumination of lightning in the distance.

The next morning was clear so we opted to have coffee in the hammock by the small creek, and make breakfast with the company of roaming deer who stopped by to graze and say hello. After a relaxed waking up, we decided to hike through the orchards and to the viewpoint to Mt Shasta, a short one mile loop on the property! It was lovely to meet Lucas' family and dog Dax, who quickly became our favorite part of this hipcamp. He came swimming with us in the swimming pond, and entertained us for our final moments on the property.

We will definitely come back and can't wait to see all the enhancements to the orchard and future vineyard! Best of luk Lucas and family and thank you for an incredible stay!

The over grown orchard, but the apples are tasty!the swimming pond! Cold and refreshing! The trail is clearly markedDax! The resident pup
