Fremont Campground is shady, the good kind of shady--think oak trees as your SPF from the hot summer sun. This cool campground off of California’s western coast is hiking-, biking-, horse-, and even OHV-friendly! And the sites are large to boot, which makes this a great place to bring the kiddos, friends, or just get really comfortable in your surroundings. Make sure you (and the kids) know how to identify poison oak, and make sure you bring all the fixin’s for s’mores cuz you can buy firewood from the campground host for $6!

BEWARE this is a terrible campground! We were there last weekend and (9/15) it was infested with huge black widows. We saw more than 10 on the perimeter of our site. There were also nests and baby black widows under our camping table. The bathrooms were out of order and there was one portable bathroom in terrible condition. It looked and smelled like it hadn't been emptied in months.

Get your butt in White Rock swimming hole, and when you get back setup camp under the shade of one of the many oak trees.

There's plenty of firewood to buy here. Also, keep your eye out for deer...they like to hangout from time to time.

Very empty and quiet during the week. Easy to walk up to. Close proximity to Solvang, Lake Cachuma, and the Santa Yñez river swimming holes. Large plots, bathrooms, and water for cleaning. No showers though. Didn’t encounter the host once during a 3 night stay, no problems at the site though. The closest store (might’ve been called paradise campground something) was closed down, along with the restaurant there. Very easy 30 min drive over the mountains to Santa Barbara.

Great view once you get out from under the trees.
