Glamping at its best! Stellar 75-mile views, on 32 acres, beautiful sunrise/sunset, private cabin to snuggle in + space for tents. Fire pit, picnic table, cold running water. You'll be staying in the only structure on the property, no neighbor's in sight. We are 6 miles up and 2500 feet above the charming wine country town of Cloverdale, a short drive to civilization/services but a world away.
IMPORTANT! : Our cabin is fit for a couple plus a dog or two but no more! It is partially finished (nothing fancy) and is drafty and out in the open, in a very rural and remote part of California. Do not be surprised to see a mouse poking around, or wild animals outside the door (deer, rabbits, bats, wild pigs, foxes, coyotes have all been spotted). There are no plumbing facilities onsite except for a pit toilet, and the only running water is from a solar well (cold, from a hose) that flows when its sunny. BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER if staying overnight or for any longer period of time, just in case! Although this is a cabin, it is still in the wilderness and very much off the grid!

The vibe at Stellar Views! Private/Rustic Cabin
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had a great time here for a quick Thanksgiving camping trip! We didn't get the chance to meet Matt, but communicating with him was quick and easy. The property and view are gorgeous, and we're glad we opted for this instead of tent camping- no cell service, electricity or hot water, but we had privacy, a woodstove, comfy mattress, and a cold refreshing shower. This is an absolutely gorgeous spot- definitely feels like an in-progress piece of property. The cabin is still unfinished and it's clear there's a lot in the works. We hope to come back in the future and see how things develop!
The cabin was amazing...although still a work in progress. We had no problem finding it (they are not kidding that the road is steep and windy) and the views were breathtaking. Matt was super responsive with a question on how the water works. I would highly recommend.
What a view! We spent three nights Matt's Amazing Views, Private Cabin! and enjoyed our entire stay. The evenings were cool to cold and the days were comfortably warm to cool. 32 acres is plenty of space to take a morning stroll down the hill to the fire road. The outdoor shower was refreshing, though during this time of year we recommend a sun warmed afternoon shower. The cabin is the perfect size for sleeping, storing your junk, and taking an afternoon nap -- with the French doors open for warmth and a breeze.
Mostly, however, our dogs loved the space. Be sure that you have good recall on your dogs if bring them -- and I do recommend that you bring them -- because as Matt points out, there are hazards to city dogs unfamiliar with nature. Our dogs are trail dogs and enjoy hiking, camping, and open spaces and are trained for such adventures. Also, be good dog ambassadors so that we can continue to have access to such wonderful places.
Matt also let us know that this space is a work-in-progress and a wonderful work-in-progress it is. Don't expect all of the facilities to be finished and you'll have a relaxing, adventurous outdoor experience; this is camping after all. We hope to come back soon to see Matt's vision come to life.
Matt was incredibly available for any questions that we had, he obviously cares about your stay and we greatly appreciate having access to him by text message.
Until next time...
Beautiful location. Very rustic and cozy cabin with a wood stove, exactly as described. Not another soul around, just rolling hills and oaks. Host is responsive and helpful via text and email.
Matt’s cabin is the perfect getaway! No people for miles, no electricity, no cell service! Beautiful mountain scenery as far as the eye can see. Amazing sunsets and night sky. More over... FIREPITS and a bad ass porch! Also, the most awesome bathroom view you’ll ever have. Doesn’t get any better!
This location was amazing! The views were wonderful, and there wasn't a single person on site. The cabin is about half finished, which didn't mind me. The only downside is there are piles of stuff all over the grounds and also a big pile of stuff in the cabin that takes up quite a bit of space. Other then that had an amazing time. The cabin got nice and toasty making it extra comfy for sleeping in during the chilly nights (got down to about 35). Also, the downtown area of Cloverdale is super cute, and it was easy enough to go to the store to get some coffee or snacks.
