Shannon and her family were amazing hosts for us and the yurt provided us with incredible views of the mountains. They were very good directions and prompt with replying to all our queries. Overall, a great location for someone looking to escape the city. Would highly recommend to visit!
This place was absolutely dreamy and all that we were after! From the seclusion, the amazing views, romantic getaway, outdoor bathtub, to the dirt road leading the way. Everything about this place was breathtaking. Communication with Shannon was timely, upon arrival we were greeted at the local Petrolia general market, and driven up to the property. At arrival to destination given directions about the place and left to marvel in the beauty of nature. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone and everyone that has either an AWD/4WD car :)
Everything from the yurt itself to the views and amenities were amazing. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to retreat with the people you’re with. It’s very secluded and requires 4-wheel drive to get there. Most of the roads surrounding the site and the dirt road leading up to the yurt are rough and windy - so arrive before dark and with an experienced driver. The stay at the yurt was worth it though.
Perfect hideaway on the lost coast.
The Lost Yurt is a great, off-grid, escape that is very glamping friendly. I would recommend to anyone looking to get away from hectic city life. Be sure you’ve got the wheels to get here. 4 wheel drive makes it easy. I loved this place. I’m ready to move in permanently. The host was very accommodating and the property is beautiful and has some spectacular views.
The Lost Yurt is an exceptional little getaway in the mountains! The space is absolutely serene and the yurt is spacious and cozy with just the right amount of amenities. It is a bit of an adventure getting up the road to get there but it’s totally worth it!
Unique secluded getaway
The Lost Yurt is exactly what you might expect— a Yurt tucked high up in the hills, secluded & private. A little piece of gorgeous solitude. It’s a bit of a trek to get up to the Yurt off the main road, but we’ll worth the journey. While we did have AWD sedan, the roads need a vehicle that has high clearance (think Subaru Outbacks, SUVs, trucks, etc). Shannon was awesome! She made sure we could make it safely to the site and was super easy to communicate with. If you’re looking for a unique secluded getaway, this place is worth the visit.
Rent yourself a slice of heaven
STUNNING scenery. The 4x4 or All-wheel requirement is no joke, up a steep hill on dirt, leading you to a decked out yurt in your own mountain-side slice of paradise. It feels like you have your own slice of mountain, with all the comforts of glamping. At night there are no discernible lights, sounds or any other indication you aren't up there on your own, just the moonlight, stars and sounds of the mountain.
Surrounding area is also gorgeous! If you don't have the car to do it, splurge, rent one (I did). You won't regret it!
This is truly one of the most magical places I have ever stayed. If you have the time I can not recommend enough. Shannon and her family are sitting on a piece of paradise. The only real kicker is that it’s super tricky to get to. Shannon was very clear and easy to communicate with but our drive took twice as long as we expected that day and ended up arriving in the dark. It totally felt like the middle of nowhere and we’d been without cell service for hours. We had our baby with us so I won’t lie, we were a little terrified. The last 4 miles in (Shannon leads you up) were a bit treacherous so the 4x4 reco is not to be ignored. Needless to say, we made it and my god was it ever worth it. When we woke up in the morning it was like magic, I almost don’t want anyone to know about it because it’s like one of the greatest secrets ever. But of course, it needs to be shared. We only spent one night and I wish we had known and spent 3. Shannon’s guidebook gives so many awesome details on favourite local spots in the area. It is super remote but you can ge
