The vibe at Lake Concow Campground*
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Lake Concow is nestled in the hills in Northern California. As soon as we arrived we enjoyed the lush green trees all over the property. The property is quite large and there are plenty of campsites. After you drive past the front house, through the gate there were some RV's parked nearby, keep going down the road and you'll find plenty of camp sites near the water. We found a spot right next to the reservoir which made for a nice scenic site. There were picnic tables, but we were not allowed to have fires at our campsite. Instead, there was a central fire pit in the middle of all campsites which could be great for large groups. The site had pit toilets, RV dump stations, water fill stations, and everything you could need for a great night. Lake Oroville is not too far away, so you could camp here and drive out to spend time at the lake. We had our bikes and rode them around the property checking out all of the wildlife. Its a nice serene place to stay.
It`s a beautiful lake! The facilities are very dirty, I don't mind using a pit toilet but when everything around the toilet is covered in human feces, it becomes an issue. A general cleanup of the campsite is also necessary, theres a lot of garbage laying around!
Besides the above mentioned issues, it`s still a very beautiful and relaxing spot.
15 bucks a day if you don't book online and just book at the gate. Pretty lake, no swimming or boating. Somewhat primative campsites (But with picnic tables at potable water), but that's what camping is supposed to be. No internet or cell phone access! Quiet mid=week, can get crowded when they have festivals out there.
The property was very beautiful and peaceful. We picked a spot closer to the lake to pitch our tent and enjoyed the wonderful chorus of birds, bugs and frogs throughout our stay.
There was plenty of space, even with many other parties camping on the property. Having a water spigot near the campsites made life easy. There is a geodesic dome market / gas station about 10 minutes from camp if you need to restock on any provisions.
We would come back to this campsite again.
We enjoyed the campgrounds a lot. It was actually one of the most relaxed and chill areas i've ever been in. The camping area we stayed in was massive. Wayyy better than some of the other places i've stayed where you feel like you're on top of people. Perfect for group camping. The area near the water mid day is gorgeous and provided a nice place to sit down and relax until sundown where we went to the campfire area. We all liked the idea of a central community campfire which makes it easier to meet other people on the grounds. All in all, we would definitely return.
Our stay at Concow was a brief one night stay. Overall, the lake was quite and peaceful. When initially booking the amenities were the major advantage, but showers and restrooms were poorly maintained. Please advise with camphost to get full description on amenities.
