The vibe at King's Creek
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Very cool campsite for those looking to have your own space. The hill driving into the campsite should only be attempted with an SUV or truck. One of our party brought a sedan and the host was nice enough to load all his stuff in their car and ferry him down the hill. The campsite is really just a fire pit surrounded by tree covered grass and dirt. Very basic and exactly what we were looking for. There is an outhouse a couple minutes walk from the main campsite. During the day we took a few different hikes exploring the property, which used to be a boyscout camp. There are a few abandoned structures and fairly well maintained hiking trails to explore. The hosts had a couple of dogs that hung around during the day just doing dog stuff. The campsite is in a valley so there wasn't much wind when we were there. There were also almost no bugs, we saw one or two mosquitos and no flies even though we were cooking out in the open. This may have been because it was March and slightly chilly. The hosts also drew us a map of the property and it was surprisingly very accurate and we were able to find all the landmarks easily. The hosts were also very friendly and after explaining the topography just let us do our own thing. You won't get any cell service at the camp (or even in the town around the camp) so be prepared for that. You'll probably only want to drive down that hill when you arrive and leave so bring anything you need with you. I would definitely recommend this spot for a group looking to rough it.
Carlotta and her husband were extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Very secluded and private! Stunning views on the entire horizon. If you are trying to camp in East County, this is the only spot you should consider!
My crew and I produced a short film at King’s Creek and we were thrilled with the location for our shoot. Not only was the location perfectly beautiful but the host, Carlotta, was incredibly accommodating and kind. Carlotta was very generous with helping me and my crew in any way, whether it was getting phone service/internet to providing us water. Not only were the campsites very spacious and safe, but you will be amazed by the stars in the night sky! Carlotta was an incredible host and I would definitely recommend camping out on her land. I guarantee a wonderful, adventurous stay!
Carlotta’s place was incredible! Quiet, secluded camp sites with 5 or 6 going trails. She was very friendly and easy to communicate with - we had a fantastic experience!
There is a bumpy dirt road leading to the campsites - a few times we weren’t sure if the sedan we were in would make it, but bigger cars will have no problem.
Carlotta was a great host and her campsites are to die for! My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and we had such a blast! It was completely secluded; it felt as if we were the only ones onsite. We had a great spot with a fire pit, next to a couple of trails and lots of shade. The stargazing at night is stunning and the trails during the day are awesome! Our favorite parts were exploring the trails & creek (we especially loved the historic Native American adobe house), and catching glimpses of deer and the birds. Berry, Carlotta's dog, is SO cute and hung out with us (we asked if he could roam around) for the night. We will definitely be back!!
We got a very nice welcoming from Richard who lead us the way from the gate to the campsite. For the way there a SUV would be more comfortable but it is also doable with a sedan.
Carlotta already provided wood, water, a table and other stuff on our campsite which was very nice! The two dogs sugar and berry were also a great company during the whole night.
All in all we had a great stay at this place.
