Welcome to our little slice of 10 acre heaven in the Canyon called the Kindred Acre Wood. Just bring yourself and we have everything else!! Nestle up in the Cozy Gnome Home, a 1967 vintage trailer and listen to the symphony of frogs in the creek just outside your window. With love and labor... we gutted, redesigned and restored this little trailer for the ultimate functioning space for two. Nice little kitchen with copper counters and everything you need for cooking and dining. A Berky filter for clean water, hardwood floors and a comfy bed complete with organic mattress, down comforter and cotton sheets. Fold out dining table if you care to (or need to) eat indoors. There is also an outdoor kitchen space with a sink (no hot water), propane burner and a patio table and chairs. The creek runs year round so feel free to get your feet wet on a hot sunny day. We also have an outdoor warm shower and sink as well as a hot water kitchen sink that you can share with other campers. You are welcome to cruise the property and check out the chickens and horses. We are surrounded by orchards which have some of the best apples in the country. Seasonally you can stop by many apple markets and do a tasting. We also have a lively wine tasting venue less than a mile away. Avila Beach is a short 4 miles away and we are happy to share bikes if we have them available but can't guarantee any. Our location is a bikers' dream as the 13 mile scenic road takes you all the way into SLO.
NOTE: If you want to bring others to camp, please note that they need to bring their own tents and supplies, we only have room for two but welcome self sufficient campers to join you :)

The Gnome Home was fantastic! It was so comfortable and fun. We will definitely return. It is set in a beautiful small canyon with a babbling creek right outside your door. The trailer is beautiful and well appointed and the hosts are attentive and kind.
At home away from home
My girlfriend and I only spent 3 days down in SLO to get away from the Bay Area grind. We wanted a place that was near everything but also off the beaten path. Lorna and Paul's place is an absolute gem, providing just enough of that "away from it all" feel, yet we were within minutes drive of everything.
We arrived on Sunday and were graciously invited to sit outside that evening with our hosts and their friends. We enjoyed the campfire, cooked our salmon together, and got to know each other a bit. When we all headed off to bed, we were quite amazed by how private the camper was set.
The camper had everything needed to cook (those fresh eggs were delicious, Lorna), clean, sleep comfortably, and enjoy meals outside. Their beautiful dog Pluto also came over every morning and evening to say hello (my girlfriend absolutely adores the little fella). The outdoor shower was incredible and the outdoor toilet was easy to use as well.
The entire experience felt away from home and at home. We truly could not have been happier with the place, the experience, and our hosts.
Thank you Lorna and Paul! We hope to comeback in the near future.
We loved our stay at The Cozy Gnome Home, a charming trailer located in a beautiful valley outside of SLO. Our family had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the property which was just a short drive out of town. Friendly chickens, horses and dogs included! Lorna our host was very friendly and accommodating. We will be back for sure. This is a special place.
I had a wonderful weekend getaway in lorna’s camper. The camper is very very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfy and the shower was peaceful. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a unique glamping experience!
Fantastic spot - super thoughtfully designed trailer, with every possible amenity included. Just offset enough to offer privacy, and close enough to SLO/Avila Beach/Pismo Beach. Comes with a very friendly dog, too.
Restful getaway close to the beach
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The bed was extremely comfortable. I slept well and woke up rested. I appreciated the little extras like coffee, tea, oatmeal, and a couple of snacks that were waiting for me in the trailer. Sitting outside in the Adirondack chairs listening to the creek that runs in front of the trailer is relaxing as well. I can officially say I have used a composting toilet. I was surprised and impressed that the sawdust really does keep all the smells away. There are a couple of rental options on the property so I was a little surprised at seeing the other options when I arrived. That being said the trailer and its 2 sitting areas are all positioned in ways that give you privacy. This place was just what i was looking for in my weekend getaway. It is close enough for a short drive to the beach while being tucked away in the hills. I definitely recommend this place.
My wife and I had a great time staying with Lorna at the Cozy Gnome Home! We were looking for something unique and memorable to spend some quality time together and this unique camper and camping spot totally fit the bill. The camper was wonderfully set up, and had all the extras just in case you forgot something like say maybe aluminum foil (which I did). There was plenty of room to cook outside with our portable gas grill, and a nice sink area to clean up and organize our meal prep. The outdoor showers was an experience, and so was the composting toilet. For myself, the best part were all the stars out at night, something you don't see much in the city. Being out there under all those stars made it feel like we were camping all by ourselves in the canyon. During the day we drove over to Avila Beach and walked around, but would have liked to try the mineral hot springs or the nearby winery next time. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for an experience different from a regular camping trip!
Clean air, warm accommodations
Cozy, private, warm and inviting. What more could one ask for? Lorna and Paul were amazing hosts.... their facility exceeded my expectations and the best part, the bed was comfortable and our sleep, exceptional. We will definitely book this spot soon!
