Nestled in the mountains above San Diego, our property is in Julian CA. We are halfway between Julian and Santa Ysabel (about 3 miles to either), and we offer a great centrally located place to use as your base for exploring the local area. Julian is loaded with things to do; hiking, fishing, sight seeing, bird and wildlife watching, star gazing in our dark skies, visiting the wolf center, apple picking in season, etc. There are shops, antiques, dining, groceries/gas, and much more located no more than 2.5 miles away. The Anza-Borrego desert is 45 minutes away. The San Diego beaches are an hour and a half down the hill.
And - there is an organic farm stand within walking distance!
We have about five acres of open fields and oak groves ranging from full sun to full shade with moderate inclines to flat areas. Regular cars and vans can drive to any location they prefer during dry weather. Campers and RVs will have to use sites close to the driveway during wet weather. We are surrounded by fenced fields for horses, cattle, and an apple orchard. Being about 1/4 mile off the highway, you will get some road noise during the day but Julian rolls up the sidewalks at dark so the nights are very quiet!

The host are wonderful, they are very sweet, and wholesome people. The property is lovely, very quite, and private. It is a great get away from the hustle and bustle of the every day and the semi chaotic larger camp site areas. We had a lovely time and Tom and Barbra were there when we needed them but where never intrusive upon our camp site. It is also, a great place to take your dog because it is away from the main road and fenced off from neighboring areas. There is large spaces so the pups to run around and have a great time. The location is also ideal if you wish to go into town and explore more. Everything is pretty close yet far enough away to make you feel like you are on your own private camp site. We had a lovely time staying here and would recommend this camp site to anyone, especially if you are looking for something more intimate and private.
Tom and Barbara are the kindest hosts and so very helpful! We pulled our little vintage trailer out and set up a tent as well and we felt like were just out in the countryside alone. So peaceful and quiet! They were very accommodating and ready to help if we needed it, but they also gave us our space.
We had a great stay on Tom and Barbara's property. They are both great, friendly hosts, and were immensely helpful to us when our car battery died overnight. Tom rushed to our rescue that morning and helped us jump-start our car so we could continue adventuring for the rest of the weekend. Can't thank him enough for his help! Their property is very spacious and feels very private which was a nice escape from the typically packed, public campgrounds. Would definitely recommend as a fun camping getaway!
Tom and Barbara went above and beyond as hosts. I made a last minute booking, they responded quickly and were very accommodating. On arrival I received a lovely welcome pack with loads of information to do/see/eat in the surrounding area.
They have a large yard with trees and large bushes to allow just the right amount of privacy.
Easy to find and in close proximity to downtown Julian, hiking trails and parks.
I booked super last minute but Tom responded right away and gave me super easy directions. I just needed a quick little spot out of town and it was exactly what I needed. The oak tree was beautiful and just perfect for a weekend getaway in Julian.
My friend and I wanted a last minute getaway for the first day of fall and headed to Julian. This site couldn’t have been in a better location... we biked uphill to Julian for lunch and cider and then came down to Wynola for mead, more cider, a farm festival and finished with pizza. Everything was very close to the camp.
The site itself was very pretty with horses in the distance and an awesome tree that we hung hammocks on. Since we were gone most of the day we didn’t get to meet the hosts, but they graciously let us arrive early so that we could start our bike ride from the campsite. I would definitely stay here again!
