Set in an open grass field (green in winter, golden in summer) with native oak trees , it's a bit more "naturey" than our main Julian Station RV camp.  But it's still within a 4 minute walk to Julian Station (burgers, tasting rooms and shops) and about 8 minutes to other nearby restaurants.  This camp is suitable for families with children and, although we want you to have a good time, this camp is designed for quiet groups that want to enjoy the peacefulness of this valley.  No loud music is permitted at any time and all music or loud activities, including generators must be limited to daytime hours.  Please also notify us of your arrival time so we can plan to be present for your arrival.  Unless an exception is agreed upon, we require people to check-in before 4 pm and we don't accept Saturday check-ins without prior agreement.  We look forward to meeting you!

I was a little hesitant before booking as Dark Sky had no reviews. I now understand that it was because Albert (the host) has just recently started letting people dry camp on his lot. Wow, were we lucky! Dark Sky is a gem of land 2.5 miles outside of Julian (in Wynola) just at the base of Volcan Mountain, a beautiful mountain range. We stayed 3 nights (7/2-7/5) and had a blast. Albert is such a cool guy and is heavily involved in the local business scene like Julian Wines. After realizing this, I quickly ordered some wines that he hand delivered the night I arrived. We then spent the next several days hiking (Mount Volcan trail) and just relaxing on his peaceful property. If you're looking for a safe, peaceful Julian retreat then I couldn't recommend Dark Sky enough. This was our first experience with Hipcamp and already looking to the next adventure. Thank you, Albert for making our 4th of July weekend so memorable!

Albert was a great host. Attentive, considerate and provided us with peace and solitude. After many years of simply driving through Wynola, I'm really happy to have spent some time there to really enjoy it. The Wynola valley is a hidden gem and the area is well worth exploring. We'll definitely be back!

We enjoyed a very quiet and relaxing stay. The area is beatiful and had lots of trees to set up a chair under and relax in the shade. Our host was wonderful and greeted us upon our arrival. The surrounding town is great as well.
