    This valley was inhabited by the Kitanemuk tribe for thousands of years. They would live here in the winter, and spend the summers hunting and gathering pine nuts and acorns up in the Tehachapi and San Gabriel mountains. This region is called the Antelope Valley because there used to be antelope-looking creatures called pronghorns. My first trip out here was to watch the Blood Wolf Moon lunar eclipse of 2019. It didn't disappoint! This is the spot to come look at the stars, howl at the moon, eat jerky, draw weird cactus trees in your sketch book, whatever!     I had never done hip-camp or dispersed camping before. The place looked naturally beautiful at a first glance because it was spring season. We drove through the whole place but were able to only find two spots for possible camping areas. Only one of them was marked as joshua tree ranch. The other one looked extremely dirty and not taken care of at all. We were very hesitant to stay there at first because of how desolated and shady the whole situation looked, but we had a good communication with the host over messages and we were fortunate enough to find another couple camping about a mile away from us. That gave us a little encouragement to decide to stay the night. It kind of gave us the creeps to be honest, we had fear of a ted bundy like individual jumping our camp in the middle of the night. Luckily none of this happened and we ended up having a great time. In the website it kind of looked like there were multiple sites available but we only found those two. I would go back myself but base in my first thoughts, im not sure if i would recommend it to someone else yet.

    The Joshua Trees are beautiful as are the views. Directions from host worked well. This is a boondock sit you have to pay for. There is trash dumped in several places (old tires, a TV, concrete, lumber, etc.). No clear place to park without driving over flowers & native vegetation. We parked on the edge of the road. Expensive for no services whatsoever ($33). Plenty of other boondock sites near the poppy reserve that are free. Don’t waste your $ unless you love Joshua Trees.

    Quiet, lots of privacy, the morning view with the blooming fiddlenecks with Joshua trees was breathtaking. It was not dark enough for milkyway photography when I was there though.

    I really enjoyed the privacy and seclusion of the property! The sunrises and sunsets with the Joshua tress were Spectacular! Nice little weekend getaway.

    Very secluded in a veritable forest (or as close you can get to something like that in the desert) of joshua trees. Definitely a decent stop if you have a couple animals with you. Site had a decent amount of trash when we arrived, though, and not sure how long it's been around.

    All the camping areas were full of trash and gun shells, we looked around but it was all the same. We didn’t fell safe so he had to leave and drive out to a BLM campsite instead.

    It is so beautiful out there. My friend and I tent camped and had a great time. It felt safe and was peaceful and quiet. There are ants out there but just look around before pitching your tent. They are fairly easy to avoid. Would highly recommend.

    Desolate & Quiet Among Joshua Trees

    Very desolate. We were the only ones at the site for our night. The sunset and sunrise were gorgeous! Perfect spot to sleep among the Joshua trees. We went in town to Lancaster for dinner and coffee in the morning. Just a reminder you’re in the desert so before 7-8 pm it’s hot!

    The spot was secluded and quite really cool property. Lots of random trash, old tires old beds, tvs and shot gun shells so it being my first time, i was a little worried that the local goons were going to bother our piece, but no goons all by ourselves. The onlllllyyyy thing i have to say is durring our stay is BUGS. We couldn't tent there was fire ants everywhere, when the sun went down all kinds, ant flies, dragon flies and other variations of flying bugs swarmed us. It was so bad we had to camp in our car with all the window closed, sort of ruining the night under the stars so we ended up leaving. The location is amazing though before the bugs really came the stars and sunset was BEAUTIFUL . Maybe it was the season and the wild comes with bugs so im not going to condem the spot but me and my partner had to leave altogether.

    Good place to camp. Quiet and pretty clean-ish/“camp clean”. Scenic background of the high desert, Joshuas, and lovely night sky. Golden hour sunset is breathtaking. Felt safe even though we were the only ones there when we stayed. Dirt and bumpy road access but most cars should be able to get thru as long as you have a few inch clearance (i.e no Lamborghinis). This is a windy area so keep that in mind when it comes to setting up camp and campfires (permit required). I would stay again!

    We loved our stay, memorable experience. + Secluded, quiet, nobody around, nice desert landscape with trees. - Windy, bits of furniture and tire around, saw a wild dog free roaming around the camp.

    Lots and lots of joshua trees, and very secluded. Does have junk laying around some spots, and you can't do anything about those red lights at the mountain side. But the night sky was beautiful.

    Overall we loved our stay, I would defined stay again in cooler months. This would be a very fun group camping spot. Pros: These beautiful Joshua trees are a joy to camp within! The stars are amazing. It feels incredibly private but you are close enough to civilization to get fairly good cell signal. If you are a working nomad, you could get some work done here. Cons: We had an inordinate amount of little flying bugs during the day, they seemed to settle down when it cooled off in the evening. They don’t bite, they just get on EVERYTHING. If you are bug averse this is not the spot for you. I would guess they go away in the winter months but I really don’t know. There were also a good amount of shooting guns in the not too far distance. Lots of shotgun shells around the property. I would be wary if I had kids or off leash dogs wandering around. We had neither of those. And lastly random piles of trash (shingles, car parts etc) take away from the natural beauty of the place.

    We had no trouble finding the property given the coordinates provided and even using a GPS seemed to route it to the correct location. We did have trouble understanding and locating the boundaries of the property and felt a bit nervous camping as we weren’t sure we were in the correct place. Like other reviewers, we did notice some trash on the property and it seemed tricky to find level camping areas for a tent that didn’t have too many poky things nearby. Levi was responsive and the land was beautiful. We loved seeing the sunset, sunrise, the stars, and all of the Joshua trees of course!

    The place is away and secluded in a forest of Joshua Trees. Close to Antelope Poppy Reserve and Lancaster. Just wish there had been a table. I would suggest getting the GPS coordinates. Levi was very helpful to helping me locate the place. Bring rebar to hold the tent down as it can be very windy.

    If you want to feel alone but not completely alone surrounded by trees that are probably 100s of years old... this is a great place to do so. The sunrises and sunsets were both equally beautiful, however because of the location, it does get windy. Because of that I didn't get to have a campfire. Even though I got my fire permit as requested by Levi, I was still waaay too paranoid to actually get one going. With that being said, the lack of fire made star gazing better and I even saw 3 shooting stars! No bathrooms or potable water so make sure you bring your own H2O and pack out your trash. Also, watch out for those dang Joshua Trees, they're super pokey! Tip: Antelope Acres Market, which is about 9 miles from the campsite, has produce and firewood. It's closer than Lancaster, CA.

    Thankfully we arrived before dark as Levi recommended or we would not have found the site. It’s important to make note of the GPS location during booking since that was the only way I could find it. The address leads you to a place on the paved road with a giant white + for a dirt road, but that’s 1 block off from where you need to be. Also, someone had driven over the only sign that marked the site off the dirt road. Site itself was level and nestled amongst the Joshua trees 👍 there was some abandoned trash and shotgun shells nearby 👎 and we had the misfortune of being there with high winds gusting up to 55 mph all night. I’d visit again now that I know where it is and would be sure to check for wind forecast — location is super close to the Poppy reserve, which is why we chose it. AT&T cell signal is good. 👍
