Bring Your Tent up on the Hill
When we arrived at the place, we were delighted to find a dump. Apparently, some homies like to come hang out at night in this place and let all this garbage. We just wanted a safe place to park our campervan since we were in LA to visit. But a really nice neighbor told us about this unsafe neighborhood... stories that didn't make us feel safe anymore. Moreover, I reserved this spot several months before my trip and I sent an e-mail with questions to the host but I never got any answer. Really, if you can find something else to camp DO IT.

Bring Your Tent up on the Hill
This spot is an unusual adventure tucked into a neighborhood above LA. As I came to turn up Eva Terrace there was a cop car abstructing the street and several young men were being patted down. By the police. So I drove up the block and then realized I couldn’t turn around so then backed down again to see if the situation was cleared. The young me were standing in the street and politely notified me that Eva Terrace wasn’t a through street, so I told them I booked a campsite up there and they gave me directions up the short road. Phew, turns out they weren’t bad guys. As Isobel’s description there is a couple parking spots as you come around the curve on the left where you can park. If they are taken there is really nowhere to park. I recommend getting there before dark as I wandered up the dirt path and around the hill for awhile before I found a flat spot. Bring a large jug of water with the spigot. We set it on our ice chest as a faucet for drinking water, washing hands and brushing teeth. Bring chairs so you can sit and enjoy the view morning and night. It was fun to explore the hill in the cool morning. Sadly this sight hasn’t been treated well by what looks like some squatters perhaps leaving blankets and trash scattered. We filled our trash bag with as much as we could cause I hope this sight stays open. My 10 year old and 18 year old daughters enjoyed this sight, the lively neighborhood has lots of dogs talking back and forth and there was a band Saturday night and they were actually good, lol. In the morning you’ll hear vigorous cockadoodling from the roosters below but we are early risers so we didn’t mind at all. As we were packing up a little gold colored coyote puppy stood nearby above us looking for food probably. Wish I got a pic but I didn’t want to get too friendly. There are all kinds of birds up here and I heard an owl hooting in the night. We only brought some snacks because all kinds of great places to eat are close, and we used the restrooms before we got back to camp so there was no need to worry about going up on the hill. We had fun here!

Bring Your Tent up on the Hill
Isobel is a responsive host. However, after arriving at the property, the area was not well-maintained. That's the only issue, but otherwise it's a beautiful spot. You can hike up the hill and also see the view of downtown LA.
