The vibe at Hope Valley - High Sierra Haven
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This new property is amazing. Thaleia is such a nice host, making sure her guests are comfortable. You'll find all the wood you need to burn. Printed maps & local info were waiting for us at the campsite. We had lots of privacy. Our site backed directly to USFS land, which meant unlimited play for the kids. The portable toilet was clean. Lots to do around the property (biking, fishing, kayaking). We'll be back this summer for sure!
My wife and I arrived late afternoon, to a awesomely prepared campsite. We missed meeting Thaleia, but she left great notes, as well as kindling, firewood, and a bucket of water to put the fire out afterward. Site #6 was perfect for backing in our camper van, while still near the fire ring (there is a nice level footprint for a tent as well, depending on your accommodations).
It was much quieter and more private than I had expected! There are a few other sites around, but they are not in direct site or earshot (unless people are being loud, but we didn't have that problem less a dog on the other side of the camp that barked once or twice). We had our small 20-lb. dog with us, and he had a blast.
Make sure you take Thaleia's word on the mosquitos, they were a bit intense in the evening. We had some citronella candles, which along with our fire kept the bugs away for the most part, but make sure you bring some sort of bug repellent!
Overall, this space is absolutely beautiful in the High Sierra, and while we didn't get to meet in person, Thaleia seems like an absolute sweetheart. Highly Recommend.
I almost don't want to tell people how great this place is so it doesn't start filling up. Highly recommend. Plenty of space and privacy plus tons of National Forest land to explore. Will definitely be staying again. We were at site 7.
Great camping area! There is a lot of land to hike and explore directly around the campsite. When we showed up we were greeted by the owner who had already stocked firewood for us and had a fire going and ready to cook. I will definitely come back in the future!
Very pretty spot with stone fire pit (firewood provided!) and a few flat areas to set up a tent. We walked to the waterfall/stream multiple times with our 4 year old daughter and overall had a wonderful time.
Thalia the Host was very accommodating! Left a welcome packet and agreed to open up the camp spot for my 26 foot Travel Trailer. Spot # 3 is the one for Travel Trailers up to 30 feet. Such an amazing property! Lots of solitude and without other campers on the site I was able to run my generator to recharge batteries, etc. It was a great camping weekend! I highly recommend this camping spot!
