If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
My time at Holum Hill was absolutely lovely. Easy to find with the hosts' directions - I arrived in before sunset, getting to the place and it is this lovely cabin the forest; very private. There are two cots for you to use in the cabin and there is a large upstairs loft area where more people can make a pallet and sleep if you are bringing your family or a few friends. Make sure you bring blankets though!
There is an outhouse on the property and it is a 5 star one guys, I've been in a lot of outhouses while traveling and I'm blown away by house nice and modern this one is. Next to the outhouse, there is a little water spigot next to the outhouse. Just be mindful and make sure you do not leave the water running aimlessly, otherwise it will all drain out of their tank.
There are plenty of cool nature spots in the area, ask the hosts for some recommendations and they'll hook you up! I stayed on the property and hiked around/explored in the morning. At night, you can see all the stars out, even the Milky Way! I had cooked dinner in the cooking fire pit area and the stars just twinkled through the trees, absolutely magical.
Can't wait to come back and stay again!!
Wow, what a gem. Book it before everyone finds out how adorable it is. Here are the highlights / need-to-know's:
- Super, super private, nestled in a forest
- Two cots with pillows, bring blankets/sleeping bags
- No electricity but there is some lighting (bring headlamps)
- Most amazing outhouse I've ever seen (flushing toilet!)
- Full bars with Verizon
- A bit of a windy drive up from Placerville, but worth it
Christina is incredibly responsive and helpful. I'll definitely be back!
I had a lovely time at the Cabin on Eagle Hill. The property was beautiful, secluded, and very peaceful. It was very clean and comfortable with lots of good recommendations for food and wineries nearby. I booked the stay to catch up on some reading and writing so didn't leave the front porch much during my time there—which is exactly what I was looking for. I'll be back for sure!
The campsite was just as depicted in the pictures! It was comfortable and spacious. The cabin was big enough to fit all four of us with room to spare. Everything was so thoughtfully designed, from the lights in the cabin to the clean restroom to the available firewood. We had a great time cooking over the pit. Tina and Jim were also very friendly! They made themselves available if we needed anything but also left us to enjoy the tall redwoods in peace. Would definitely recommend!
The Cabin on Eagle Hill was a perfect retreat. It's a small little space, but clean, simple, and cozy, set up with two padded cots and additional loft area if there are extra people (bring your own sleeping pad or air mattress if you want to utilize the lofts). There is no heat so I'd recommend bringing warm sleeping bags or blankets if you're coming in the winter months.
You wake up with sunlight filtering through the pines outside the windows, and can sit on the little porch to enjoy the peacefulness of the forest. The spot backs up to National Forest, and it's hard to believe just how quiet and calming it was to be there, surrounded by the tall trees and nothing else. You can't see any neighbors and are set up and away from the driveway, which is on a private dead-end road. At night you can see a ton of stars through the clearing's gap in the canopy.
Christina has put in a lot of care to manicuring and designing the space so that it's seamlessly part of the outdoors while also being comfortable, clean, and functional. I loved looking at the craftsmanship of the cabin and the outhouse, which was impeccable and has a real flushing toilet! There's also a picnic table and a beautiful firepit with a grill. Sometimes there are burn restrictions so be sure to check with Christina.
It's a bit of a long windy road to get up there from Hwy 50, but a beautiful drive. If you can do it during the daylight hours, you should! This time of year, the trees lining the local roads were in gorgeous autumn colors that were so nice to drive under in the sun. It can be hard to immediately see the cabin if you arrive at night, but Christina is extremely responsive if you have any problems finding it.
Holum Hill is only about a 30 minute drive to the Sly Park Recreation Area, which has ample trails for running, hiking, mountain biking, and the lake for fishing and boating. Can't wait to come back and get another dose of the forest!
We had a great experience at Holum Hill . Easy to find with the hosts' directions and very private cabin. There are two cots to use in the cabin and there is a upstairs l area for more people . Cabin is really clean and almost new.
There is a great and super clean outhouse on the property with water spigot next to the it.
Ask the hosts for various cool spots which you will find around their private property.I stayed on the property and hiked around/explored in the morning. Fire pit area is wonderful with bunch of fire woods which they prepard for their guests.
Thank you for hosting us and we will back soon.
A perfect little cabin.
This little cabin is a perfect get away. We loved how quiet it was up on the hill.
The property is beautiful, they have horse shoe to play, the sunsets were amazing. And we made fire with wood provided by our host.
The cabin itself is well kept, they have a little propane heater in it that kept us warm at night. And on site they have the flushable toilet which is a rare find. Everything was just as described.
If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with everything to make you camp stay easy, come here.
The location is the best part of this listing. This cabin is in a veey secluded are and you cannot here anything other than wind and birds.
The hosts provide more than enough - fire ring and table, wood, flushable toilet and a cozy cabin with a heater.
I would definitely love to come back!
