We are an off-grid, solar-powered, 25 acre lakeside venue and permaculture-inspired lifestyle rich collaborative.

Heartland exists where the wilderness of off-grid life meets an artistic collective that sings possibility to the fringe dwellers of the Regenerative Eco-Village movement. Heartland offers people a break from the craziness of what so many call "life" and a view of what can be co-created with each other for each other. As in permaculture, the Heartland model is about doing more with less, it's about allowing our individual and diverse natural Flow states to merge forging new pathways of co-creation that are the true answer to our collective purpose.

Tent #2 is on a perfectly flat 16'x20' cedar deck. It's the only tent that is relatively close to another tent, so it's a great choice when you want to be close to your neighbors. This spot is relatively central and you are a 2-4 minute walk from all amenities.

*Fall Notice*

It's gorgeous here, but please know that our lake is a reservoir and it is low between Sep-November. Swimming is still possible but the walk to swimmable water is longer. During this time the bottom of the lake offers remarkable river hikes. With a 15 minute drive away there is also a really beautiful clear water swimming hole with a tire swing. Another very highly recommended day trip is the famous Yuba river, which is roughly an hour away.

We look forward to booking your stay at the Heartland Collective (:

The pictures don’t do justice. This place is amazingly beautiful. There is a private lake area only minutes away. I will definitely come back again.

Heartland was perfect for a city getaway in a remote pocket of Yuba County. The last 8 miles or so was on unpaved road with lots of small rocks so be warned - journey might take a little longer than you think. But oh was it worth the drive from the Bay Area. The pictures did not do justice to this property! Lots of space to roam around and explore and private access to the lake is literally 5min walk from the campsite. The sunsets are amazing and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. Be sure to arrive with all your supplies and plan to stay a bit. The communal kitchen was adequate - they plan to upgrade soon on more stable platform and refrigeration. There’s a cute little dining area with picnic tables and pretty lights to enjoy dinner and drinks. The outhouse is well ventilated and the showers were clean and had a great view of the rolling hills! The tent itself was nicely set up with bedding and mattress (small full size) - was unbearable during the day when temperatures were in the 100s but a nice retreat in the night time. Lots of nature sounds, chatty birds in the middle of the night....but so much nicer than the constant barrage of fireworks in the city! I’m looking forward to the evolution of Heartland and will return when it’s not too hot!

This is a magical piece of land, very peaceful, with many species of birds to enjoy and coyotes howling at night. I look forward to coming back to experience it at a different time of year. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and clearly take a lot of care with the creative aspects of their project.

Plan on bringing your own cups, utensils, and dish soap - the kitchen is still in development. It would have been very challenging if other visitors had been there but we made it work with just two of us. Tents 1 and 2 are the least private, next time I'd chose one of the others that are a few hundred yards from the community space.

Great location, excellent host, comfortable site (with heater!) ..we even made friends with the chickens! Loved the metal sculptures and serenity of the lake. Will definitely visit again with friends in the future. I could not have asked for better way to start the year and say farewell to 2020.

It was the perfect place for an outdoor getaway. The tent was cute and super cozy. We had rented some propane to light a small heater in the tent because I was afraid it would get too cold at night. But there were enough blankets to keep us warm. We walked around a huge property and ran into geese, cows, and chickens. Very relaxing!

My spouse, two children (6 year old and 2 year old), and I stayed in tent #2 for a few days. Everything was exactly as described. The host was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. My children loved roaming the farm, playing with the chickens, and throwing rocks in the lake. It was a perfectly peaceful and relaxing camping trip.

We stayed at tent #1 & 2 for 2 families of 4. This place is a total gem! EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS! Host was very nice. Barely saw them around so its very private. These 2 tents are perfect for families with small kids. Comes with very comfortable and clean beds, linens and sitting area. The whole place itself is for both couples trying to get quiet time and families who just want get away and have a good time. The small tents are spread out the property and far away from each other. They have their own access to lake. Enjoyed paddle boarding and fishing.

They are doing some updates in their communal kitchen so there is construction going on but no work being done during our stay. They let us just have the place to ourselves! There are showers (with hot water!!!) and clean outposts (one with an exhaust!). We are already planning our next stay!

Cute little area to watch the sunsetPaddle boards are welcome! They have kayaks you can borrow aswell! Our new friends who loves to visit! Tent 1&2
