It was very nice staying at HOME. The space is quite lovely and we very much appreciated Josh's hospitality. The Brookside site is near the babbling creek and is mostly hidden away under some big trees provide adequate shade. This space is great for a quiet getaway and is quite close to Nevada City, Scott's Flat reservoir and the Yuba.
Beautiful base for nearby hikes
Living up to its clever name, at HOME was delightful to fall asleep to the sounds of crickets and the flowing brook.
The location is amazing and easy driving distance to fantastic hikes and Lake Tahoe!
The Brookside site was closer to other people than we expected (campers at another site were boisterous and audible, and we could see people in a house from our site).
The instructions around campfires were not very clear - the hipcamp listing said fires were allowed at our site and we were able to order firewood but there was no designated fire area pointed out to us. We also didn’t get a tour of the property at all and didn’t know where the water/trash/etc. areas were.
It took a while to find someone and figure out where to go when we arrived, but there was some kind of emergency water incident that the host had to attend to around our arrival time, so I suspect this was just an unfortunate blip.
I am confident the host is dedicated to making the hipcamp experience smoother and even more awesome!
Definitely give HOME a try if you want some calm nature and proximity to beautiful forests and mountains.
