Outrageously great sunrises and sunsets, as well as moonrises! Great place to watch meteor showers!!
The camp fire area comes complete with seating and firewood! Grill and camp stove, including propane gas, are available for use year-round.
The outdoor community kitchen is available for use 24/7, and relaxing at the community campfire is a fantastic way to meet other travelers and compare stories over a cold beer or glass of local wine. The kitchen is complete with a gas stove and small table, a shared refrigerator/freezer, triple sink with running water and plenty of dishes, pots, pans and utensils to use. So much more than your average campground!!
FRESH WATER is provided from local springs! Hydrate up with the best-tasting natural spring water known to mankind! :)
Fun outdoor shower with unlimited (on-demand) hot water and great water pressure, as well as an outdoor claw-foot bath tub in the woods are available for guests. The farm's well water runs through house and gardens, with NO CHEMICALS ADDED! Lovely if you are used to city water with chlorine.
Community Farmhouse has access from 8am to 9pm for wifi, showers and bath, reading library, and just hanging out by the fireplace or swamp cooler. Generally there are guests and volunteers year-round, which makes for interesting visits since folks come to visit from all over the US and abroad. You never know who you might meet here!
This is a working permaculture farm and you will encounter chickens, beautiful gardens, and interesting projects in progress, including several sculpted cob structures and a small pallet house made from award-winning design plans, and coated with gorgeous earthen plaster over cob.
If you're coming in to camp for the weekend, you might catch us at the Middletown Community Farmers' Market selling our goods June thru September on Friday nights! Otherwise, we sell gorgeous, free-range organic chicken eggs (laid by chickens who might be visiting you while you're frying eggs!). We also offer lots of herbs, seasonal veggies and fruits, and a fantastic selection of other farm products, including teas, tinctures, and all sorts of holistic products.

Had such a lovely time at Golden Rocks Permaculture Farm. I came alone but made friends with those volunteering at the farm. There was an outdoor kitchen available for use, with a stove, pans, silverware, dishes, sink, etc. Super nice!! For anyone who hates going shopping before their camping trip, don't! You can buy produce and eggs for cooking here at Golden Rocks, you can also get wonderful flower here at great prices as well! Support your local farmers :)
The campground has an outhouse and it is so cute and NICE! I love the moon and star carved out in the door, so cute. There is an outdoor shower with hot water available for your use as well, it was super cool. If you're adventurous, fill up the bathtub and take you a nice bath out here in nature.
There are some cool cob houses that Brenda and other volunteers have made and they are beautiful to look at - check them out while you're here.
The surrounding area also has lots of opportunities for kayaking, swimming, biking, and hiking - be sure to ask Brenda or one of the other volunteers for recommendations! It's also a 420 friendly place, come have a good time at Golden Rocks!!
Quiet and pretty. My kids loved the chickens. We went to a creeak (we drove to it) and had a great day, and camping was easy. The camp kitchen was nice. Though, I'd still bring some dishes and cups next time. Very relaxed life
Charming farm in lake county
Brenda’s farm was incredibly charming and she was a gracious host. The communal fireplace and outdoor kitchen were perfect for our needs and helped us meet some interesting campers.
A really wonderful weekend-- Brenda not only a gracious host but also radical farmer, who's knowledge and love for the land was inspirational! The communal kitchen and fire led to conversation with other campers, and the spot is well situated for hiking, hot springs, and the lovely Middletown.
Wonderful place to relax!
We spent a great weekend at Brenda's farm. It was easy to find, and the wooden platforms add an extra bit of comfort. The communal fire pit made for lively evenings with other campers and the outdoor kitchen is well appointed. The outhouse is easily accessible and always clean. We bought fresh eggs for breakfast directly from Brenda in the morning. Lots of great activities in the surrounding area. We will definitely be back!
Remote, quiet and peaceful.
A well needed break from many weeks on the road. Brenda was great about taking me in on short notice. Would definitely like to return.
This isn't a KOA, it's a working farm in a remote area of Lake County, so bear that in mind when you consider a visit.
We stayed two nights at site #1. It was comfortable and the shower and camp kitchen were nice additions. Definitely pretty close between sites but enough room to have your own space. The views from the site were nice to look out at the moon rising over the mountains and enjoy the wildlife and sites.
We had a really nice stay on the farm. At night you can see all the stars in the sky, and Brenda pointed us to some very cool hikes and swimming holes. The only things I would be aware of is the dirt road is really bumpy coming in so you definitely want a car with higher clearance. Also using the outdoor kitchen was a bit of a dance to wait for others to clear out so you could use it while maintaining distance. It would be nice if there were tables at each site so you could have the option of using your own stove.
