If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Susan is a wonderful host and her farm is a gem. We had a minor booking hiccup before the trip as the treehouse was double-booked, but Susan was extremely accommodating and gave us various alternatives. On arrival, we got a little tour of the property, an excellent home-cooked meal accented by her produce picked then and there, and though we had the choice of a cabin, we opted to sleep on the outdoor bed on her deck - we absolutely loved it and it was just what we needed. We're already talking about going back. Thank you!
Perfect romantic getaway
The love shack Treehouse lives up to its name. Secluded, comfortable, and intimate.
Susan was a wonderful host, attentive, easy to communicate with, and even gave us a little tour of her amazing farm. Highlights include getting to pick and cook fresh eggs from the chicken and duck coop.
If you get a chance to come check this place out, its a great romantic getaway, highly recommend :)
Wonderful stay and delicious food
Everything was amazing!! Susan was a fantastic host; she communicated with us very promptly and frequently, and was incredibly nice and accommodating when we arrived.
My partner and I stayed at the Love Shack Treehouse, which was a great intimate space surrounded by nature. We also went on the Farm to Kitchen your, which was simply amazing. We learned so much about the different kinds of plants and fruits you can eat and cook, we picked manzanita berries and wild grapes, and then had a blast making pizza, cider, and grape butter in the kitchen.
We had such a wonderful time, and would def come back again~
Romantic homesteading getaway
As my final exams finished, my gfs work schedule was changing and we only had one available weekend for a getaway. After spending over an hour trying to find campsites open with available space, I found myself scrolling through nearby (within a couple hours in any direction), I found The Love Shack Treehouse.
Now, I've never done any sort of bnb before, so im approaching this from complete ignorance and building grom scratch.
After reading around and comparing some details, the Treehouse far surpassed the levels of privacy i was able to find. The room is at the end of its oen path, at least 30 or so feet away from the nearest other dwelling (theres a wwoofer shed up the hill a little ways, facing your front door but not any windows or the balcony -- they wont see you while youre in the room or on your back deck), and the deck overlooks the Goddess Garden where Susan has promoted native plant growth interspersed with fruit trees and more common veggies, and further beyond this garden the mountains roll off into the distance. This garden does have wwoofers working it theoughout the day, and they can see you on the deck (but NOT in the room, and honestly i never even saw them glance up. Youre a good 10-15 foot above their head, and theyre more than respectful), so maybe pass on the nude sunbathing but we loved the nice table and chairs set up on the deck where we ate our roomservice breakfast watching the sun slowly rise in the sky. It was beautiful.
Directions take you exactly to the driveway, and parking is simple and convenient (I drive a kia rio, no 4wd required, just make sure you know how to back out of a longish driveway..super easy). Once we arrived Susan met us at my car door and quickly had us set up with potable water, a basic tour of whatever we might need for the night, and told us dinner would be served soon.
We basically had enough time to use the bathroom and settle in and Susan knocked on the door with her crew, all carrying a different dish! Meals are served on a surprisingly large wooden tray with several different complimentary dishes youve probably never heard but will definitely love. She told me a dozen times and i still dont know what i ate, but my mouth is in love with Susan and her cooking crew (shoutout to the pita bread and the mint simple syrup demo!) and everything they do.
The tour as well, it was great! She took us on a walk around her property for somewhere sround two hours, pointing out medicinal plants and telling us about them, letting us taste edible herbs that grow wild in california and even encouraging us to take cuttings home with us. I cant genuinely find a single thing to complain about.
As with any trip, there will probably be a small hicup or two but susan was never more than a qyick text awylay and she was always willing to help us with anything we need or wanted, including setting up group meals (we could choose room service or eating on the top deck with an even BETTER view of her property) where we met some cool people and had a chance to unwind a little.
Im glad i found this, and plan to tell at least a few couples i know about it
Susan is an amazing chef and host!
The pictures do not do this place justice. I stayed in the Loveshack with my boyfriend, and it was clean, peaceful, and relaxing. I would recommend purchasing some of Susan‘s food offerings, as she is an incredible chef with a lean towards healthy and tasty! We went on a hike called Stevens Trail which is a hike to the north fork American river, about 35 minutes away, and we enjoyed her salmon nori wraps so much! It was great to have a balcony overlooking the garden and the trees to ourselves. We saw bats flying around at night, just as the sunset came along.
Garden Goddess Farm was a private sanctuary tucked away in a private neighborhood. Accommodations were comfortable and Susan is warm and personable and the brunch is a must. Artistically Delicious and much of the ingredients are from the farm.
I've had the privilege of staying in a handful of Hipcamp spots across the country and this was easily one of the best! Susan was a wonderful host, just the right mix of available and friendly without being overbearing or intrusive. The WWOFer (Anna I believe) was also very helpful and kind. The property was gorgeous. The proximity to Yuba River was perfect. The compost toliet (or poo with a view as I like to call it) was very nice. My room, The Love Shack, far exceeded my expectaions. I would highly recommend a stay here. I'm looking forward to planning another myself 💜
This is such a beautiful magical spot! Susan was a warm and gracious host, and made me feel very welcome and taken care of. I added the brunch option for one of my mornings, which was delicious and so much food, would highly recommend! The gardens and property were super peaceful and beautiful, and the treehouse was lovely, sparkling clean, and well stocked. It's clear a lot of intention and care goes into making this a comfortable and nourishing spot for guests, and I'm quite grateful to have gotten to spend a couple of nights there.
