If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Frog hollow camping was quiet Android private so it wasn’t nice feeling safe ! It is is very welcoming in term of decoration and lighting. The only problem was the installation, the toilets were full and really smelly and the water wasn’t connected to the the shower so we were unable to use them. Some informations from the landlord would have a helped a lot.
Nice site by the creek and close proximity to Yosemite National Park. The site is set up nicely with picnic tables, two cute lounge chairs, and hanging linen curtains for some privacy near the river. All in all we had a good stay. Heavy machinery on site woke us up early in the morning. Other than that it was nice!
My boyfriend and I honestly felt very ambivalent staying here. The place seemed run down with a broken down bus, car and ATV on site. Also, the toilet is a porta potty, so not exactly what was expected when toilet is listed under "essentials." Additionally, the site seemed abandoned with a lot of garbage lying around. There was a furnished house on site and even though the fan was running (?) we had the impression that no one lived there. We had good communication with the hosts, who were helpful and friendly but we inevitably ended up moving to another campsite early because we felt the atmosphere was too eerie for us.
Not the best campground
- not well kept/clean: we found glass bottles laying around, the site was next to a dismantled car, an abandoned school bus and various weird stuff (almost like a junkyard)
- our parcel for the tent was very small, we have a small light backpacking tent so it was ok but a big tent would not fit
- the linnen that separates the 2 sites in the photos was not there, the site was not private at all
- overall so much worse than any public campground
- There were people working and making noise very early in the morning on Saturday (6am)
- it is very close to the road
+ The only good thing is it is 1h20min from Yosemite Valley, it's enough if you just need a place to sleep and go up there to enjoy the park. Also it was ok for us because everything else was booked, but if you are looking for a nice place to stay with your tent I would not recommend it.
This is such a quaint and unique place! We were the only campers at the time and it was really large and kinda like a playground for adults:) It was a little confusing finding the place and there was no check in but hosts were responsive to texts and ultimately a place we would definitely return to!
This is such a gem of a location. The property is beautiful, not far from town, and hiking and fishing are all extremely close by. The campsite was kept private by these really cute linen curtains draping from the trees. The treehouse shower was AMAZING. I took my rainfly off my tent and fell asleep while stargazing and listening to the stillness of the Sierras. Also, did I mention it's right outside of Yosemite? Camp here. You will not be disappointed!
This a great place to stay if you're looking to spend sometime in Yosemite. Just about 45 min to an hour from the park, about 7 min from the town of Mariposa which is very darling. The site was easy to find, the space however was not clean the previous people who stayed left behind trash, which is more on them than the hosts. Overall had a great time!
What an absolute pleasure it was to stay here!--I recommend it without reservation. Conveniently only 45mins to Yosemite, a friend and I stayed here overnight ahead of a day of hiking. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcomed as the host greeted us along with an entourage of fur babies (puppy and two goats) and showed us around, including the restroom which I remember being one of the cleanest I'd ever come across. At the recommendation of the host, we stopped at a wonderful cafe in downtown Mariposa, the Pony Expresso, which had delicious bagels and coffee, before we hit the road. We'd absolutely stay here again and certainly would Frog Hollow to others.
