The wood floors and wood windowsills in most areas of the 3000-square-foot-house were milled from trees thinned from the property (for fire safety). The house was remodeled a few years ago with principles of sustainability and fragrance-free / toxin-free living in mind! Ask us for more info! We started Clear Air Mountain House because most vacation lodging cannot accommodate our chemical sensitivities. There are thousands of vacation lodgings that allow fragrances, but very few places that are safer for those that are chemically sensitive.

    Fragrance Free Camping
    We really enjoyed our fragrance free camping at Irina’s Clean Air Mountain House in Sierra City! Irina was a thoughtful, warm, and attentive host throughout our stay. We especially appreciated the guide she created, which provided detailed directions to her place and excellent recommendations for local outdoor activities and dining. There are rules to follow so it’s good to be aware of that. If you are an early riser, note quiet hours go until 9 am. This community-oriented space, which Irina has lovingly created, does have clean air, is fragrance free, and is a queer-friendly community.
